Hi everyone, I've been approved from my insurance for surgery so I'm now waiting for Dr. Roye's office to send me my package.  At the moment I am curious about this problem with hair loss.  I read from a Gastric Bypass success story that she(age 28) lost her hair in big clumps starting at 3mths lasting 6 mths. She said she actually lost so much hair that she had bald spots and stopped washing her hair every other day because of it. Truth be told I really, really am bumbed out about this.  I just started growing my hair out to a medium length and the thought of LOOSING a ton of it is very unsettling. Can anyone tell me if this is true?  Should I expect a lot of missing hair and for how long? Please, please tell me if it grows back to what I now have and how long before I see it growing back and not falling out.   Last but not least, is there anything(such as extra nutrients etc) I can do to prevent this or at least keep it to a smaller amount.  ANY information/help would be GREATLY appreciated. PS.  Anyone had their gall bladder out at the same time as the RNY surgery?  Someone told me that having the gall bladder surgery was the most painful of all.  Anyone have any comments as to whether or not their recovery was worse because of it.. Thanks to all of you who answered my other multiple questions.  Your comments really help.

Hi My hair loss was minimal.  It started at 3 months and has just about stopped. I'm 9 months out tomorrow.  I started out with really thick hair, so i'm the only one who could really notice...excpet for my husband.  He noticed it the shower...clumps everytime I washed my hair... Good luck!

Hi, Mine just recently started falling out over the last week.  I expected it to a point, but just not in the handfuls I'm seeing.  I had already cut my hair short so there was no extra weight adding to the problem.  I've gotten biotin capsules to mix into my food, a nioxin shampoo to help and am increasing my protien intake.  All in all I've heard that it's perfectly normal and will eventually subside...it still sucks.  I'd still much rather be bald than have the problems I had prior to WLS though.  I'm exactly 4 months out today, have lost almost 70lbs and gone from a size 20 to a 10.  A little or a lot of hair loss is totally worth it to feel the way I do now! Best of luck!
