Good luck to you Friday.  I have my Psych. apopt. tomorrow.I thought it was quiet today too.  I kept on checking all day too see if there was a new post, but nothing until now.  Good news for me.  I have lost 8 lbs since Sunday.  I started a journal, and it is working.Hopefully Dr. Roye will be glad.I write this after going to dinner w/ friends I have not seen in almost a year.  My husband leaves on Sunday for Iraq, so we all had a lot of catching up to do.  We drank ALOT of wine.  Out of everything, I will miss that the most. Take care, Jen

Congradulations on you weight loss.  Let your husband know we are grateful for his sacrifice and your family's sacrifice to fight for us and keep us safe.  My family and I will keep him in our prayers ,my husband is a Marine  but he's been out for a while now.  I don't know what I would do if he had to go.  Good luck with your psych eval.

Hello, I'm still involved in the endless waiting.  I asked my sleep specialist for some meds for awhile to help go to sleep with the stupid C-pap.  My husband is getting a whole new machine as the air pressure drives him crazy. I'll be interested in seeing what he gets. The sleep specialist said that it would take a lot of weight loss to ditch that thing. I see my surgeon the end of next week. Happy days.  The first & last time that I saw her was the beginning of March.  I thought that I'd be in & out of surgery, like, last month.  Now it looks like Sept. or Oct. It's a pretty small group here in R.I. & it seems that most of them are now post-surgery rather than pre.  Maybe that's what makes the difference.  Or perhaps everyone is just busier in the summer. The Upper GI is a breeze.  My only complaint are the skimpy gowns that they give you to wear.  Why?  I know these babies come bigger.  Part of the test or was it another? was being in an MRI machine.  I was afraid of claustrophobia but the sides were open which helped.  Still...it was a relief when I was out of it. Keep cool! Islander

Hi Everyone, Yes Dave, I am a vet of gastric bypass surgery.  I had mine done in May of 06.  There were many people on at that time and for some reason I think we all read the posts but never respond.  why??? I dont know. I am guility of this too.  I started out at 317 and i am down to 208.  For some odd reason I lost 6 lbs of water in two days and was so happy and then........I put it right back on. I was down to 202 and I thought WOW this is great!  Ha! I put it all back on and I have no idea how and why.  As for the cpap I have to tell you, I used it once in the hospital and that was it. I never used it again.  In the hospital they put those little oxygen things in your nose so you really don't need the c pap machine.  When I got home I put the damn thing away and never used it again.  I know a few other vets that did the same thing.  I never went back to the sleep doc and I still have my c pap machine packed away in the closet because my health care paid for it. I found this a year later.  So here it lies in my closet.  As for the pschy evaluation, I guess things have changed since I had mine in 2005.  It was only a couple of hours and it was over with. Although, the counselors that talk to you and ask you quesitons before you see the actual psych really tune into the slightest thing about drinking or any other things that they feel are of concern.  I was never much of a drinker, but when i was single many ,many years ago i used to go out clubbing.  For some odd reason they made a big deal of the drinking aspect of it.  I guess people with WLS tend to have some bad habits later on because eating isn;'t as important as it was before the surgery.  They tend to focus on little things like.  Now for the upper GI that you get.....oh yukkkkkkkkk i think that was the worst part of the entire ordel of tests.  That stuff is really gross.  Plus.......I had to do it when i was at the hospital after my WLS because my doc thought i may have a blockage.... because my pouch was sewn a little to tight.  I still have some problems with protein.  Carbs are no problem  which isnt good,..they go down just fine.  Protein is  harder to digest and it still gives me problems.  I thought I would share some of my thoughts with you guys.  Hey all of you veterans out there....let me know how you are all doing!!  BTW, I had Dr Harrington was my surgeron.  OK Terry, Natalie, Diana, Cheryl, Claudia...where are you guys??
