APPROVED!!!!!!!!!

I received my approval letter from Dr. Roye's office along with my testing schedules.  I'm so excited. Who do you recommend for a Phychiatrist  Friedman or Zimmerman? Who do you recommend for my sleep stuydy? The letter says all testings must be done at RI Hospital.  They   provided a phone number to call is  who everyone went to when I tried the number it said Univesity Medicine.

Congrats on starting your journey!  The tests seem like a lot but they go by fast. I'm going through Dr Giovanni, so most of my tests were done at Roger Williams. I did have my phych avaluation done via RI Hospital.  It's done at a building near the hospital.  I just called them and told them I was having WLS and they just made the appointment.  I don't even remember who the Phychiatrist was, as you only see them at the end of the day for a little bit.  You meet with a counceler during the day and they take all your information.

As far as the the number saying  University Medicine, that is normal.  Most of the time when you go to specialists they go under a name like that, as it's probably a group of doctors.   I would think if that is the number they gave you, then those are the doctors they want you to see. Hi Dave, I am waiting for my first test the sleep study.  How were the other tests.  Long /short any on the painful side(so I can prepare myself). How was the Psych eval?  I read somewhere that the psych eval was 3 hrs long.  True/false. What kinda stuff do they ask you . I'm sure it will be fine but just the thought of having to take one is so unsettling especially since I've heard some have failed and couldn't get the surgery until they passed.  Any ideas how to answer honestly, stay calm and pass. Any info on any of the above would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks (worried)susan 

Congrats and now comes the testing.  None of them ae very difficult..you will do fine.  I don't recall who I had for psych and I didn't have to do a sleep study so I can't help you there.  Good luck with everything!!

Hey, I had Dr. Zimmerman.  He was very nice.  I'd recommend him.   Book your sleep study right away,  it usually books a few weeks out..   I went on Rt. 2 in West Warwick, I think it is called University Foundation or Medicine.  The office is the building next to Cardi Furniture.  I then had a choice on where I wanted to go to have the study performed, so I chose The Miriam Hospital.  Nancy

Hi Nancy, My sleep study is also at Miriam.  What can I expect?  I read one persons study and it sounded like they put a mask on you with wires and stuff on your head and chest and just plain all over. True/false.  How could you get any sleep? How was your experience and staff.

Hi, I had Dr Freidman for the psych consult, he gave me the quickest appointment. BUT, neither Dr. on the list accepted my health insurance,(United Health Care)  so I had to pay out of pocket. It was $300.00, but worth it in the long run--couldn't have been banded without it! Sleep study--same as Nancy Good luck!! Patty
