Sleep Test

Hello to all!

I went for my first visit with Dr Gurta and scheduled my sleep tests, the first one on Saturday night.  Do these doctors tell EVERYONE that they have sleep anemia right off the bat - before the testing or is this like a warning to what could happen?

Your experiences are gladly appreciated.....

Thanks!

Kim

Hello,

A good question that I've often asked myself!

80% of overweight people have sleep apnea.  I think that with the physical exam they can pretty much diagnose the apnea.  Heck, I went in there & told them my husband has it as he stops breathing while sleeping.  The tests not only help confirm/debunk the diagnosis, but tell what to do about it (the level of apnea you have & how to treat it).

Hi, I was told when the Dr did his physical exam that I had OSA. I went for my sleep study about 6 weeks later, I didnt do to well I couldnt fall asleep so they sent me home about 2 am. I went to see my PCP and he gave me a sleeping pill to take when I did my study over again. I did sleep that night and found out I do have OSA and was put on a cpap machine. I sleep like a log now and If I dont use my cpap machine I sleep like crap..lol Are you going to the Johnston Office for your test. If so the 2 techs there were great. Good Luck !

Yes I am going to the Johnston lab!

I have problems falling asleep, so I don't know how this is going to work, but I will give it a try.  My fiancee wants to come along and stay w/me until I fall asleep - I find it easier to fall asleep when he is around for some reason - I guess he takes the place of a teddy bear!

Does that machine make alot of noise?
