When we get approved after consultation do we have to wait for another approval for the actual Surgery?    Can anyone give us newbies some idea on the questions the Phych. will ask in the interview.  I know we have to fill out our questionares but what type of questions do they ask and who would you recommend?   I quess that kind of 3 questions.

You have to get "pass" all of your tests...psych, pcp, etc....  to finally get approved for surgery.    As for the psych exam...you get all sorts of questions from..have you considered hurting yourself in the last month to what was your childhood like.  My doctor..tells you who to see so I can't give you any suggestions on recommendations.  Good luck!

I'm aware of passing all my testings.  I meant Insurance Approval

Once you have your first consultation and you and the surgeon decide to go foward, they send a request to your insurance company for pre-approval.  There maybe requirements such as diet history or doing a doctor's supervised diet, depending on the insurance company. I have Blue Cross,  It took a few months for the approval, but i think that was because of lost/misplaced paperwork.  Once they had everthing they needed I was approved within a week. Hope this helps. ....dave

Thanks Dave.  I've already had my consultation and according to my insurance I'm approved.  Just waiting for my doctors office to set up appointments and send me orders for the rest.  I just didn't know if I would need to get approved again by insurance once Surgery is scheduled  I also have BC and I had my appointment last week.  I called them today they said I'm approved till 1/08

As far as I know once you get the approval you are all set. Glad you got yours so quick.  I had my first appointment on April 30.  I called in June to see if the insurance was approved and it wasn't.  So the last month I've been calling the insurance co and the surgeons office to keep checking on it.   In the long run it probably didn't hurt me because I was still finishing up on tests, but I wonder if I hadn't starting calling, would my request still be in limbo?  At least it seems to be coming together now. Good luck with you on up-coming tests. ....dave
