For those of you that filed for TDI, how soon did you do it? Did you file as soon as you had a date? Or did you file after you had your surgery?  I will have a date next week, and I want to get the ball rolling with TDI, because I know it takes a while to get paid... I know I wont get paid until  after surgery, but was wondering if I could at least file for it since I will deff have a date to give them as a "last day of work date"..so maybe the process will talk at least a little less longer... also, how is Dr Royes office with getting required paper work back to tdi quickly?  alot of it depends on how your doc's office corresponds with tdi...so any input/experiences advice on this would be great!!!!! Thanks!!!

You can not apply for TDI until you miss a day of work. You can apply on line. It takes about three weeks for them to get the information from the doc's office and make a decision. I didn't have any problem with it but it does take time to get a payment in the beginning. HTH Betz

I know you cant get paid until you have missed a day, I was just wondering since we deffinitely have a date that we will be unable to work, (the surgery date) ..would that be ok to submit paperwork beforehand....to speed things along...just wondering if anybody had experience with that...

i tried doing it this way and was promptly denied. LOL you have to wait until you've missed work. it sucks, but that's the only way they let you do it.

ahhh gotcha... so what I should do is get the froms mailed to me, fill them out, and mail them the day before I go in the hospital....

What you should do is have the Doctor write you out the day before your surgery and apply online that day. Betz

Hey Girl I am doing really well, thanks for asking. I am coming up on a year out and active as ever. I have been doing a lot of hiking, my favorite activity. I have also been going out on my friend's boat and sitting around wearing a bathing suit. (imagine.) I very rarely sit in front of the computer. I know that isn't very good of me. I should be here more often to support others. I will try to check in more often. Betz

Talk to your HR department.  They will explain when and how to apply...  If I recall...I did apply once my date was close...but I am not 100% on that.
