Spoke to Insurance Company

Well, I made a call to the Insurance company. This women Rachael from care coordination gave me ways on how to speed up the process. She says if they faxed then it takes up to 30 days and if mailed, it's a bit longer. She also informed me that Dr. Royes office has the capability to call voice and give them the information and I can be verified by days end. I explained how I am out of work for the summer and needed to have the surgery at least by end of August, because I return back to work shortly there after. She told me to be extremely nice. I asked the brutal secretary to speak to Kathleen, the nurse practioner.... she says, she's not in today... so I says, maybe you can help me with this, and explained the whole thing to her. She refused to call and told me I was going to wait up to 30 days one way or another. Now, I'm in tears. Only because it's under a different cir****tance as other patients. I'm already out of work... why should I have to leave work again? Am I being selfish here? I don't think so. But if I am, please tell me. I want to speak to Dr. Roye about this matter. But to get through that brutal secretary is another story. Any idea's?  

dawn,   i have united and it did not take 30 days.  they faxed the info from dr. ryder's office on 6-24-07 and i was approved 6-25-07.  i still have to finish the testing, but i"m already approved.

dawn, if you call united, ask for care coordination,  they are the one's that the info is faxed to and they know where the info is in the united system. 

I called twice today, the second person I spoke to never heard of what this chick Rachael said to me. She said, 30 days too. I will call again, maybe if I hit up the right person?

I don't get it then. How did you find out you were approved? What dept. should I speak too if I call Insurance back? Am I talking to the wrong dept? Sorry if I have tons of Q's. I'm just so fustrated.

My doctors office called me to tell me I was approved and to schedule my surgery.

I hear that Dr. Pohl's office is right on the ball as far as that. Thank goodness someone is. LOL  The issue at hand now is... they said they faxed it, but my insurance states they did not.

Okay, I spoke to Customer Service. She said to go there face to face and get the phone number they faxed it too. She siad it was silly that they are doing this. The reason for it taking up too 30 days mostly depends on the office sending the fax to the correct number. She also said, they never sent it via fax yet, cause they would have had it in minutes. Once she has it, they can make the decision. I'm going to the office at 4pm and I'll have a chat with this brutal sectretary. This will be handled one way or another.

I called my provider (Blue Cross)when I was looking into the surgery and I pretty much qualified with all the listed qualifications that the women read to me - I just need to have the approvals from the surgeon and my primary care doctor.

Have you done any of the testing yet?  It is very time consuming - I hope you can get it all done soon if you are looking for surgery over the summer!  I am hoping for August , but September will do!
