Does anyone have United Healthcare?
hi patty whether or not an insurance company covers this surgery is solely dependent on what kind of policy your employer has "bought". so company A buys a policy that covers weight loss surgery, and company B doesn't - even though they both use United- only company A's employees will be covered. I didn't understand that all at first - but once I did, I realized I needed a new employer, or an employer that was willing to buy into the policy that covered WLS. Good luck!

That is what I thought too but I am being told differently. I am actually the one that negotiates the health policy at my work. I called my rep and what she has told me is that no UHC plans cover it unless it is a large self-insured plan. I have a funny feeling that is not the case. I am trying to put some examples together. I am a diabetic and was told by my endochrinologist that is would be covered.
