Hypothetically, if you were going to meet friends for drinks, and haven't been out socially since your surgery, would you have one and if so what would you consider  "legal" to drink?.   I was thinking one low carb beer. Nancy

With the lapband I would have a drink and feel fine with the decision.  I don't know the ramfications of a drink with the bypass.

Also, with the band, you are not suppose to have anything carbonated...which I believe beer is.  I don't know, I don't drink it.  But I've had vodka and cranberry juice.

Hi Nancy, Last year when I had my surgery in May, I had a chance to go out a couple of months later and I had a glass of white wine.  I usually dont drink wine  especailly red or rose (and i like it) but it doesnt like me...i get all stuffed up, as i think i am allergic to the way it is aged...Anyway, I ordered a white wine and added some ice and sipped it.   That was then, but now when I go out i order my manhattan or a cosmo with ice on the side .......ummmm delish!!! One is all I can handle but its enough for me.   ;) have fun!! Carol b

Me thinks I would have one at home one day first. I tend to do experiments at home. If you don't know how it will affect you it is a safe environment at home. Then if you have no problems ask Dr. Roye.......LOL. Betz
