Im banded!!
Finally I am banded. i waited for this day it seems like forever. It came, went, and now Im home recovering. I cant wait to start losing weight. I am so excited. And I have new friends who are extremely supportive and want to help. I can feel as though something is inside of me( cause it is) but I just cant get comfie. Im sleeping on the recliner so im not in pain. I really miss my bed...lol I am really struggling with the water consumption. I had 2 shakes, 2cups of broth, and 20 oz water bottle all day so far. This is harder than i thought!!
Congrats and Welcome to the other side!!!!!! You will feel better everyday. It goes by quickly. Just take it easy for now so you can heal. The most important thing is to drink, carry a water bottle around with you. I didn't and ended up with an IV at home.
If you have any questions I'll be happy to answer them.
Nancy
Hi Rhonda,
Congratulations!!!!
You will feel better after the swelling goes down, I am sure of it.
Who knew that getting liquids in would be so hard to do.
Maybe we should all get those beer helmets and have our protein drinks in them,
but we can't drink with straws. Oh Well.
Cheers to you getting your fluids in.
Take care, Paula
Hello to all and especially my neighbor Rhonda! I am also from NP.
How hard is it to be approved for the lapband? I am awaiting an appointment with Dr. Roye, I heard he is phenomenal! What can I expect? Is there anything I should be aware of before my appt?
I've been over weight my whole life and finally made the decision to go with the lapband... it took me three years for this decision... I kept on hoping one more diet would do it, maybe this one or that one will work, and of course... the same ole' nasty results... Sigh.
I wish you all the best of luck and say a prayer that I have approval too. Should come up with the name "Band of Friends" LOL
Can't wait to hear back from you all.
As for Rhonda, I KNOW you've seen me around town! :)

Hi there, I was banded by Dr. Roye on 5/3. He is a very smart man - and very to the point. His office staff is extremely busy and sometimes rude - don't take it personally.
FYI - if Dr. Roye tells you to lose weight prior to surgery - do it! He told me to lose 5-10 pounds - next time I saw him, I had GAINED 10. He gave me a surgery date and said if I didn't lose the 10 pounds, he'd rescheduled. I wanted the surgery so bad - I lost that 10 pounds. Good luck - you'll be in good hands. Kathy
Thanks so much for the tip! But I still have questions. Lots of them!
How long did it take to go through all the hoops from your initial visit? I know that it varies, but I am looking for an approximate time.
How did you drop the 10 lbs prior to him allowing the surgery to take place?
Did you have any difficulties with your insurance approving? On a more personal note; what insurance did you have? It may give me a glimpse of hope.
