Hello All, I'm looking to have Surgery sometime in the NEAR future. I finally got an appointment with DR. Pohl, but not until June 18th. I made an appointment with my Regular Dr next month.....What should I do now? I'm so lost with all of this.

Well I have Dr. Pohl. He said if you can start scheduling your testing before you go if you want. Like if you think your insurance requires a six month diet. Start that as soon as possible. I believe that was the hardest thing for me to complete timewise. Most appointments I did came pretty quickly. Hang in there you will be done in no time.

Welcome Kevin, Are you looking into have the band or the bypass? I know how you feel about having to wait for your appointment. I called for an appointment with Dr Roye 10/24/06 and got my appointment for 3/27/07 Use this time to gather all the knowledge that you can about WLS. You may want to start going to the support groups available to help you have a better understanding of the road ahead of you. I am going on 4/27/07 to get my surgery date. I am going to have the roux-en-y. Everyone here is great you are in good company. Good Luck, Paula

Welcome! I'm nearing the end of the testing process now. I'm waiting for the sleep study (I'm real good at sleeping so this shouldn't be a problem) and have my head examined this week (psych test). I spoke with my primary about her thoughts on the surgery. I called my health insurer & asked if they had any requirements for obesity surgery. I bought a book, "Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies" (order it at Barnes & Noble). I am returning another book to the Middletownc library today "Weight Loss Surgery," so check it out! You could call & schedule a sleep study as this seems to take the longest time. 615-5879. Most of the rest of the testing will be scheduled by your surgeon. It's also a good idea to start remembering all the weight loss things you have done in the past. You will be asked for the results & the dates. The best thing to do at this stage is get yourself informed. You can get a lot of good advice here. It's also wise to start preparing yourself for surgery. Healthy eating habits & exercise never hurt. Eileen

Just take it one day at a time...it will fly by...you'll see. My first appointment was the end of February...and I'm just finishing up all my testing (the first week of May will be my last test - the dreaded bloodwork). Then I get to schedule a date to get a date LOL Just remember, this isn't going to be a "quick fix" and EVERYTHING takes time...putting the weight on...planning the surgery...healing after the surgery...weight loss. You get the idea. Best of luck!
