Help please

Hey Guys Im new to all this! And i have seen how good of help you are with one another! I just recently sent all my information with Dr. Roye, Im in the process of choosing a Surgeon. Its a tie between Dr. Roye and Dr. Pohl (Ive heard wonders about both). I was hoping you guys could give me some insight and was wondering if you guys knew of anyone who had United Healthcare for insurance ( I know nothing of insurance deals) and would like to know if they were partially covered (if any?).Thanks so much! and Good Luck to all! What procedure are you thinking about getting? I ask because Dr Pohl has been doing the lapband procedure for much longer than Dr Roye. In 2005 when I was researching Dr Roye was not doing this procedure so I have never even met with thim. Dr. Pohl is great! I would be happy to answer specific questions if you have them. I know to get an initial appointment with Dr. Pohl it can take awhile...however once you are one of his patients - appointments are not an issue.

Hi Deneb, Welcome, I have Dr. Roye, and I will be having the band probably some time in June. I also had UHC, and had some trouble there... long story. My advice: get a very detailed letter from your regular Dr. outlining all medical problems, treatments, weigh ins, and talks you and you Dr. have had about losing weight and have either Dr. Pohl or Dr. Roye submit it with all the other info they will give to the insurance co. I have heard many wonderful thing about Dr. Pohl, just happened to get appointment with Dr. Roye 1st. Patty

Thanks Guys! I am looking into getting the lap-band! A couple of my family members have been extremely succesful with it! Dr. Roye's office called me back for an appointment, and it seems like Dr. Pohl has a long process for admitance. I have been doing so much research for over a year now, and traveled to Mexico in January to get it done! But when I got there the hospital was a total mess and the Doctor was a loon to say the least! So i decided to come home and try it here! There is no better investment than my own health i thought! lol As for the documentation from Doctors, do you guys think insurance wont value it if its from an International Doctor? What do you guys recommend as far a Insurance battles? LOL Thanks for all your info !

Hi just wanted to let u know I love Dr. Roye and I love my band. Also im not the best at following all the rules and I have lost 53 pounds in six months and im shocked I was able to do this. Its a great tool to have by your side or insides lol . Choose who ever makes u comfortable or can fit you in when its conveinient to you take care elaineOH BY THE WAY I WAS DR. ROYES 7TH BAND AND IM HAPPY WITH MY CARE

Just to add more to your confusion. Check the post op diet. I think Dr. Roye is more conservative. My friend had rny with Dr. Roye and was on liquids for 8 weeks. Dr Pohl also had Roger Williams Hospital as an Circle of Excellance with gastric by pass surgery. Good Luck
