shakes
Hey Jullee,
It is really hard to get in the required amount of protein without the shakes in the beginnning. They are available everywhere. I think www.bariatriceating.com is the site that you can pick and choose the flavors to make up a case. I think it was Kristen that told me that. You can get them at GNC or even Walmart. The trick isn't finding them it is drinking them. Even when you find one you like don't over buy because the appeal deminishes. I put unflavored in a lot of things in the beginning, now I use vanilla whey from GNC but I always do different things to it with the bullet (one of those drink mixers that makes smoothies.) I buy Davinci suger free syrups online and blend them with fruit. It is always a challenge to keep it interesting.

no, i've never heard of that. you'd have to eat mass quanities of yogurt to be able to get in the required 65g of protein! that's 8 containers of yogurt! at 100cal's + you're looking at 800 cals/day!! for the first few weeks out of surgery, i think you're lucky if you're able to get in 200-400 calories. i know when i first started with yogurt 1 container would last 3 "meals".
www.wlssupplies.com was the best site i came across for ordering shakes. DON'T buy in mass quantities! Buy a bunch of the little samples to make up a "case". This way if you don't like one, you didn't just invest 40 bucks in a huge jug of it. I know that www.vitalady.com sells samples, too - but her come in this plastic bag, and well - it's a little weird to me. The wlssupplies come in these great little milk jug plastic containers that you can just add the liquid to and shake up [although i rarely did that. i needed ice in mine!].
good luck!
