I thought they'd turn me down the first time!. This makes me wonder about how sick that I really am to be approved in less than a week. Of course, I just had some bloodwork returned & none of it was good news! But this IS good news! My younger sister had this done. She looked around one day when a saleswoman told her she should be in the "petite" section and it turned out to be her! She's got a whole new life & I'm so happy for her. I'm not looking for a "new" life, just a healthier one. I made the grade because while I am not 100 lbs. overweight, I do have a few new comorbidities - asthma, cholesterol, GERD, pre-diabetic, and joint pain. Most within the past yr. I rec'd my packet today from Dr. Ryder's office & am looking forward to one heckuva journey. I also hope to make the April meeting & look forward to meeting many of you.. Eileen

Eileen, Congratulations! I know how you feel. I was very relieved when I got my approval and my packet too. Just had my Nutrional consult today, and it went very well. Tomorrow I have the first half of my Psych consult (crossing my fingers) You have started on the yellow brick road to a new life.!!!! All the best, Paula

Hey Paula, Ehhh - the Psych consult is no biggie - they just want to make sure you aren't a binge/purge type of person. If you are, you'll need to go to counseling first. It really wasn't bad....good luck though!

My psych consult was horrible, they didnt approve me so I had to go to the counseling. I see now why they made me go, but at the time i was soooo mad!!! I still go to the counseling with Dr. Messier in Providence even though she has ok'd me for the surgery. i actually enjoy going!!!!! Good Luck!! Jullee

Blue cross approved me in two days. I was only 75 overweight with just athsma and high blood pressure. They are pretty quick in approvals. we were lucky.

Yes, I was prepared for the worse. My sis had to pay for hers. Do you have a date yet? I don't understand the sleep test. You first make an appt. to see a nurse. Then what? Does everyone have to spend the night? Do you have a date yet? Pretty exciting, I think. Eileen
