Lap-band surgery

Can anyone tell me if they've had the procedure done at RIH and if you have to stay overnight? Thanks! Kathy

I did with Dr. Pohl and did not have to stay overnight. I went in to surgery early morning and was out in the afternoon sometime. A friend of mine who had Dr. Pohl did stay overnight so I think it depends on your co-morbidy's and how you do during surgery.

Hi Danielle, Good to know - thanks. My friend just had the bypass and was in the hospital for 3 days....although I know that surgery is much different than the band. When did you have your surgery done? I'm getting anxious to do mine - and am starting to research which shakes to use....any suggestions? Thanks! Kathy

Dr Pohl sells some in his office They are ProtiV or something like that the Wildberry is the *******so have the Carnition Instant Breakfast Drinks. I bet the people on the board will have some good suggestions and where to buy them. Post your question to the group. Who is your doctor?

I have Dr. Roye. I'll have to check with his office to see if he sells anything. And the carnation instant breakfast has enough protein and little sugar/carbs?

Hi Kathy, Dr. Roye is exellent. I had his partner, who is also wonderful. They do not sell the protein shaeks in the office. I've used Whey Protein, it comes in vanilla or chocolate. But I didn't use them for too long, I didn't like the taste. If you don't mind me asking, how come you've chosen lap vs. RNY?

Hi Kelli, I chose the lap band vs. bypass because it is less invasive. I really don't like the idea of my insides being completely rerouted. Plus it's adjustable. And another thing...the success rate is better. How are you doing?? Kathy

Hi cathy I love my lap band and I love Dr. Roye he is so wonderful and I chose the lap band for the same reason u did and I am 52 pounds down since the end of sept. Slow but sure! Dont forget to check out the main lap band forum on the site it will help u answer any questiond u May come up with . Elaine
