I may come to this meeting. My husband is having his surgery same day, so if he's out of recovery and I'm feeling ok that he ok, I'll pop in. I haven't made it to a meeting yet, but would like to.....

HI, I have never been to a meeting, but would like to come. I know I need the support, I am almost at the one year point. I need more about the meetings so I will feel comfortable. Who can attend? Who are the speakers? Who sponsors them? P. Lanes

Hi Pheliece - you must come. I believe anyone Pre or Post op can go. That is all I know.

Hi Pheliece, What a cool name! I've been going to the meetings for well over a year, although I only had my surgery 7 months ago. I went for a long time during my investigation stage. The people who run the meetings are the staff that work with the weight loss surgical group. Usually Dr. Roye attends, though not always, Julie, the physical therapist is often there, Sue, the nutritionist, and (I hope I don't screw this up) Kelly the teaching nurse. Oh gosh, I can't remember the psychologists name. They are all super nice people. Then the group is comprised of people investigating, people who are anywhere from a few days out, to many months, to as many as ten years out. Sometimes the group is very lively and interactive, but sometimes, like last week, it's kinda quiet. Everyone is extremely supportive and nice. So, please, know that you will be comfortable. Anyone can attend. I don't know that anyone sponsors the speakers, most often it's the staff that are the speakers. So I hope to see you there!!!! Pam
