The day my life began..A1C
So..I can pretty much garantee that I could count on one hand how many people have seen me cry in my adult life...but today I had a bloodwork followup appointment at my doctor's. As you know..I had surgery on November 10th..about 2.5 months ago.
Today, I was sitting in the little room, waiting to see Dr. Regan and she came in and handed me a piece of paper. She said 'I want you to look at this and we will talk about it when I come back, in a few minutes'. Immediately I am thinking a million things. 'What's wrong..she's never done this before..'. So..I look at this piece of paper..It's my bloodwork results. I scan it until I see one particular line...A1C. I followed that line over to a corrosponding number..It says "6.5". Let me tell you, I am so glad I was alone in the room, because I lost it. I cried like a little *****
Remember..just 2.5 months ago I was a diabetic on 45mg of Actos..even on that medication I had an A1C of 10.8. I had lost weight..I had done everything I should, but I was so insulin resistant that my near future would consist of daily insulin shots, constant monitoring and a life full of diabetic complications. For those of you who don't know, an A1C of 4.0-7.0 is consitered normal with no signs of diabetes or pre-diabetes.
My daily blood sugar has been normal, but it wasn't until today...when I saw that 6.5 in my medical records...6.5 on no medication..it wasn't until now that everything I have done..every decision I have made recently has been worth it. Having this surgery has saved my life. Because of it, I will have a normal life, and if I had to do it over again, I would in a heartbeat.

FANTASTIC !!!! Congratulations Jill you did it. You are a great example of those of us who take our situations into our own hands and make the decision that we can do something to make our lives better. I am really happy for you.
All The Best

OMG!!! that is fantastic and I have to admit a huge relief to hear!! I have diabeties too and I'm having the surgery for that very reason. My lastest A1C was 8.6, when I was diagnosted it was 13.1 or in other words off the chart (as the chart only goes to 13), and it's amazing to see that its helped you soo much in such a short amount of time!! You are an inspiration!! Thank You!! Keep up the good work.... I read your other post too.... at some point I hope to be shopping at the gap too, I've never been able to before so that will be wicked cool!
Thanks again for posting this!
