First of all Happy New Year everybody. I have been traveling and busy with family being ill and in the Nursing home so I have not had a minute to go on line till now. The Happiest news for me is I GOT MY SURGERY DATE January 30th !!!!!!!!!!! Now I am really excited. It seemed like it was one delay after another, one lost Dr's report after another and then last minute adding the hematologist to the list of pre-testing then that report getting lost. But here it is and I Am Ready. I go on Thursday to meet with the Hospital Roger Williams for final pre testing and to meet the anesthesiologist. Then the shake diet till surgery on the 30th. I am an RNY surgery. I peaked my weight at 369 and have been working hard to prepare and am down to 353. I am taking the vitamins, the shakes and lots of crystal light but I did have a few slips around the Christmas and New Year meals. I did not think I would ever get here. I have done all of my " One More Times" and am exploring options for what I can eat after surgery. I have tried baby food. I tried Kristens Pasta less Manicotti and I like it! I have a problem with the blender chicken but I might try to spice it up with garlic, lots of garlic. I am Italian so doing without the pasta is not easy. I even have been using the cpap machine but I still don't think it does a thing for me, no difference at all. I can't wait to tell Dr Gupta what he can do with it after the surgery. I started this journey on October 12th 2006, My Birthday and I am thrilled to finally be getting to the surgery. A personal thanks to all of you who have posted and sent words of encouragement and guidance along the way. I can't wait to get to the other side. I'll let you all know how I make out. Tom

there is something very, very wrong about putting chicken [or any meat, for that matter] through a blender. so don't worry about not liking it! no one does. LOL garlic should definitely help - but be careful with it. garlic can sometimes make our new pouches feel not so great. i think it's just how strong it can be - so maybe try roasting it first, before using it. that should soften the blow a bit. congrats on getting your date, Tom. You are about to start a huge life change and i'm excited for you! Can't wait to hear how you make out. Kristen

Thanks Everybody, I appreciate your good wishes. I am counting down the days to the 30th. The shakes are weak but I have already lost 9 pounds Wow. I am gald I did my one more times and I am feeling like I don't even miss some of the things i liked " except pasta" I will always miss pasta Time is traveling quickley so I am going to load up my I Pod with new tunes I can't stand the hospital sounds monitors people etc co I expect to drown them all out. My wife says it's not a good idea because sometimes I sing along without even knowing it. Hospitals are no place to go for a rest. I am a workaholic and rearly take time off so this will be a something different for me. The music will help me tolerate it. All The Best Tom
