OT: Dermatologist..
Hey Danielle,
I've been to a bunch of the meetings and have never gotten the sense that they are anti anything. Dr. Roye is usually present, well most of the time. And he has been doing quite a bit of lap band procedures, so my sense would be that anything goes. Everybody I've encountered there is very supportive and the main goal is support and weight loss and healthy ways to get there. This month's meeting was pretty scant, I'm used to the place being packed. It was too quiet.
So..... I hope to see everybody there next month!
Meeting procedures usually go as follows:
1.Introductions, usually RIH staff that attend the meeting say who they are, then we go around the room and everybody introduces themselves and says either their current loss to date, or that they're exploring, or in the process of testing/insurance etc.
2. A topic presentation is given, this month it was excersize. Julie, the PT, talked about Tai Chi, Yoga and Pilates. This is generally 15 to 20 minutes. It's kinda new. We used to just talk about whatever topic happened to be of interest at the time.
3. Open discussion, this is where the remainder of the group time is spent discussing whatever group members want to talk about. During this time lots of questions are generally asked and "veterans" get to help out by sharing their own experiences.
It's very informative and helpful. I hope you come next month.
