Looking for a Bandster
Hi - just wanted to know if anyone out there with a band could answer a few questions?
Had surgery 12/1. Lost 13 lbs in one week - who wouldn't on a liquid diet. I've now advanced to full liquids - I can't say i get everything in I should - but I also can't say it's because I can't - mostly don't want to - amazingly I had none of this willpower before surgery, lol
does the band give you any of the "things" bypass does - do you get sick when you overeat?
I just feel like if I wanted to I could go ahead and eat anything and not feel any recpricussions - is it suppossed to be that way?
I don't see Dr. Roye till next Monday -- I realize I havent had a fill yet but thought I would feel something
I know I am rambling, I just want to desperately to be successful once!!!!!!
Thanks for listening
Hi Cathy,
The forum board here, is the one I was referring to.
You should be able to click on the lap band forum and then click on recent messages.
I thought you might be able to get more information, by other lap banders.
I, go to the VSG forum, because I have decided this would be the right type of surgery for me.
Good luck,
Nancy

The board is most helpful. Everyone there is nice. I haven't had surgery yet. I want to be banded myself.
Best of luck!
Happy Holidays,

Hi Cathi
I had my band with Dr Roye on October 17th. I had a little restriction with just the band, but I think it was mostly just the swelling that kept my appetite down. I lost 13 pounds my first week also. Once I started full liquids and mushies, I stopped losing. I actually gained 2 pounds from my post op appt until my 1st fill. He was not worried about it though because you don't have restriction until you get filled. I had my 1st fill a few weeks ago and definitely have restriction. I have to be careful because I am still in the pre-band mindset, forget and take too big a bite or don't chew enough and food does get stuck and it ends up coming back up sorry to be graphic. Some advise...while you are healing and when you are on mushies and soft foods, practice small bites and swallow just a little at a time. That way when you are on solids you shouldn't have any problems. I have finally lost the 2 pounds that I gained and hoping to lose more once I get my 2nd fill on January 5th. I feel wonderful...the difference in my clothes and not being so tired from just a little weight loss is a bonus. Just take the time now to heal...this is not the time to focus on weight loss. most times I forget I have a band until I go to eat and get full so fast...the band is a beautiful thing!! I eat about 1/4th - 1/2 of what I used to....if you have any questions, please feel free to ask away!!
Best wishes to you!!
