It has been about 4 1/2 years sense my surgery and I have been on my own with no support. It has know been 2 years sense I have had my son and I am know struggling to lose the weight that I gained. After my surgery and before getting pregant I was down to size 6 weighing in at about 135. I am know about size 14/16 weighing in at 172. I would like to get back down to 140 but I am stuggling with every diet I have tried and I don't know what else to do. Can anyone help? Also, can anyone tell me what post op planning a revsion means?

i think a post-op revision is when a bypass patient stretches out their pouch or has issues with their new pouch, so it is no longer doing the job intended, so they have another bypass. i think it's to be looked at as a major last resort, not something to fall back on. you know? maybe it's a good time to start going to meetings and getting back involved in your WLS priorities, like you were pre-op and immediately post op? are you eating lots of carbs? drinking enough? i'm not that far out.. so i haven't encountered these issues before.. but i imagine that if you just go back to the WLS basics - vitamins, fluid, protein, then veggies... it would help. just cut out the carbs altogether and up your excersize. i think doing those things "should" help.. whether they do or not, i don't know.. but in theory it's supposed to work! i wish you luck!!! and maybe we'll see you at the next meeting? They're held at the Gerry House on RIH campus on the first Wednesday of every month - at 6:30 [but getthere early for a seat! lol] kristen*

Hi Kristen, thank your for the info. I would never think of going through a second surgery at this point in my life. I have just had someone else give me the same advise about going back to the basic and remind that my pouch is still my tool and all I need to do is learn to reuse it again. I will try to make it to the meeting know that I know about them. thanks again for your honest answers

also, maybe it wouldn't hurt to try incorporating some protein shakes into your life? thy might fill you up and give you the protein you need, without all kinds of calories/carbs. just a thought!

Hi Tammy I agree 100% with Kristen. I think going to a meeting, especially the one on the 6th (this coming Wednesday) would be really helpful for you. We have several "old timers", so to speak, in our group that are both remaining successful and also struggling. They can provide great advice regarding what has worked for them. Then there's the fact that all the members are so very supportive! Plus, the support staff is outstanding and highly qualified. This month's topic is a good one, "Holiday cakes, pastries and pie. Oh my!" Don't feel alone. Carnie Wilson, of the group Wilson Phillips, had your exact problem. She ended up doing the Celebrity Weight Loss Challenge in front of millions of viewers. Believe me, our group is far more supportive, and less intimidating. You're real story could also be very beneficial to the group. I imagine it must be really hard to focus on yourself to be able to do the "right" thing when you have a new baby. I'm sure there are members who can relate to that as well. The fact that you are reaching out is a great step in the right direction! It's so important that you remain healthy for that little darling boy. Pam
