A magic Turkey Day, or what?
Hi kids!
Turkey day was a one of a kind for me. First, that I didn't stuff myself silly and gain five pounds, but weird because I didn't experience any eating related problems like I expected. I was able to eat appetizers, meal and desert without incident! I mean, I didn't eat much, but more than on an average day. I started with a couple things for appetizers, a cracker w/cheese, two chips with dip, half of a half a piece of quick bread (date, I think). About 45 minutes later we had the meal. I had dark meat turkey w/gravy, a tablespoon or a bit more of mashed potato w/gravy, a spoonful of green beans, a spoonful of corn, about a teaspoon of stuffing-maybe less (I'm not a big fan of stuffing) It all looked like a lot on my plate, even my husband asked if I'd be able to eat it all having watched me eat next to nothing the past few months, but I did, and felt fine, not even stuffed. Then about an hour later I had a sliver of SF apple pie, a sliver of SF pumpkin roll w/sf cream cheese filling & SF caramel drizzle and a sliver of regular pumpkin pie (had to...mother-in-law made it). I even had a drop (literally) of ice cream. Once again, I felt fine!
The next day I had my OJ and protien powder, like I always do every day. Then I went shopping (duh!), I had a couple of small pretzels in the car (maybe three), but nothing else. At three-thirty I sat down to eat some left over dark meat from the turkey heated up in the microwave. Oh boy! It couldn't have been more than one, maybe two ounces tops, almost immediately I got sooooooooooo nauseous!!! What the heck happened? The turkey the day before went down without a hitch. Everything went down like jello the day before. I mean, the portions on Turkey day weren't regular person portions- you guys know what I mean, toddler portions if that. Still, it was exciting and scarey to be able to eat what I did without getting sick, but then the next day it was like a switch had been flipped back on, or a valve closed. So weird!
By the way. You should all check out splenda.com for their sugar free recipes. I've never made an apple pie in my life and it was excellent! The next day I decided to scoop out the apples from the left over pie and eat those rather than waste the calories on the left over pie crust (which I fed to the birds-no splenda in that). Sugar free cool whip is not bad either.
Anyway, the magic, for good or bad, is over.
Just thought I'd share.
Pam
I ate less than 1 cup of mashed potatoes cranberry sause and peas and I threw up after a few bites so didnt try to eat the rest of the day . It sucked last night we went to a wedding and I passed on the soup and the salad but had about 1/4 cup of mashed potatoes and 6 small peices of chicken and I was fine figure that out . But I was so happy I did not get sick. So each day is a new one and watch out lol lol elaine
