I'm going to start a post, give my stats...problems...weights...and what ever else you want to add, this way we can all see how everyone is doing without having to search all over...what do you think? Will you all join me? Ok..here I go. Surgery: on 9/27/06...7.5 weeks out. Started: at 342...currently at 284 (58 lbs down!) Facts: As everyone knows...I have my issues keeping food down...but slowly I'm working it out. First out of surgery...no issues...kep****er and liquids down fine. Once I began solid proteins is where my issues began. It is a little of my body not liking the proteins...a little of me probably eating to much or too fast too...All in good time! But other then that I feel fantastic! What I eat: Well...lets see, chicken salad, tuna salad, egg salad, sauce and cheese with smashed hamburger meat. Chicken breast..insides of potatoes...tomato soup with cheese, sugar free jello, pudding, pudding pops, popsicles, cottage cheese, wheat saltines, peanut butter, wheat toast, low fat lunch meat, cheese sticks, pork loin, basically any meat (some stay down, some don't!) I'm sure there's more, I can't think of now, but that's most of it. Hey if any of you old timers have any other ideas for food for the 1st 6 months...add that for me...Thanks!

Hi Jessica: Surgery: 10/13/06 ...5 weeks out Started 223...currently 199 (24 lbs down) I'm having trouble getting in any protein and my liquids...I was great first few weeks out of surgery, but lately I'm naseaus all the time. I'm keeping down soft boil eggs, refried beans, soup, s/f pudding and sweet potatoes. I tried chicken...made me so sick...tried broccoli...also made me sick. Cheese sticks are ok, if I only eat 1/3. Tried a small bite of meatball today. That stayed down. These past few weeks, I have mostly bad days where I just feel crappy and tired. I know its because of the lack of protein. I bought some protein bars...and they mostly stay down. Trying to get my protein in anyway I can. Good luck to everyone! Kelli

here's mine! Surgery: 4/20/06 (7 months tomorrow!) Started: 327 at 5'4 - now i'm 208 [or so] which is 119 pounds down. my weight loss is weird. i don't lose anything for 3 weeks, then i lose 10 pounds in 1 week. crazy. i'm wondering when the weight loss is going to really slow down.. i know it should be soon. :o( Facts: It took about 4 years to have my surgery. I'd been through the program at Lahey Clinic in Burlington MA [when i was living/working in Boston], but then ran into major insurance issues. Went to court, fought the written exclusion and lost. I was going to be a self-pay, but my new job changed their insurance policy to include the WLS and I was able to get approved a few weeks before my surgery. I had open-RNY, hysterectomy [just my uterus] and a hernia repair all in the same surgery. My incision was 16 inches long and had 56 staples. I've had no complications, except for a low B1 and iron count. I upped my vitamins and it's been normal to high ever since. What I eat: sushi, sushi and more sushi. i have tuna sashimi, or a tuna naruto [tuna, avocado, flying fish roe wrapped in thin cucumber, instead of the rice] probably 4 out of 7 nights a week. for breakfast i do skim milk/special k or go lean crunch. lunch is usually a salad with turkey on it, some cottage cheese or hard boiled egg. dinner is sushi, or steak or scallops - just broiled with a salad or veggie. i try to stay away from sauces unless i know what's in it. chicken is getting easier for me, finally. it took about 5 months for me to eat it without issues. pork isn't my friend. it sits in my stomach like a brick, so i dont eat it. but steak and i get along fabulously - so i stick with what works. i don't eat many carbs - maybe a spoonful of potatoes, or a cracker with some cheese for a snack. i love the whole grain bread at the atlanta bread company. i can eat a half sandwich with that! i did try pasta for the first time the other night. my boyfriends parents made homemade mac n cheese. i ate a bite. it was heavenly. lol i try to eat a lot of fruit. it seems to fill me up and totally kills my sweet tooth. as far as sugar.. i don't know if i dump, still. i haven't eaten enough of it to know for sure. but - the little sugar i have had [usually when dunkin donuts messes up my iced coffee w/ splenda] it makes me feel like i have had about 6 glasses of wine, i get dizzy, i need to lay down and then i pass out for about 2 hours. i wake up and i'm fine. so i stay away from the sugar. lol these are some of the symptoms of dumping, but it doesn't make me feel like i'm going to die, or like my heart races.. i just feel wicked drunk for about 5 minutes and then i'm knocked out cold. lol weird. for tips on what to eat: just stay away from carbs. don't even eat them unless they're whole grain. you'll get really good at picking apart sandwiches/wraps. trust me. use lettuce if you want something to hold your meat. make cheese crisps [shredded parm. cheese, tossed on a plate and nuked for like 30-60 seconds depending on your microwave] and use those as crackers for your tuna/chicken salad. let beef jerky be your friend. it grossed me out at first, and now it's the only snack i really eat. god, i can ramble. thanks for putting up with it! lol kristen*

My Turn! (a little late) Here goes: Surgery: 7/6/06....4 months and 20 days (or about 2 wks shy of 5 months) Started: at 299lbs (yikes!)..... currently at 233lbs (as of last Sunday, maybe a bit more now) so that's 66lbs down! Yeah!!!! Facts: Very few troubles, probably about 6 bad bouts of nausea in all, but no vomitting. I get the frothies and foamies...yuck! Usually this is with baked chicken, doesn't matter if it's cooked or swimming in a low fat gravy. I'm ok with the purdue packaged stuff, like the chicken strips you can put on a salad. Also forget eating bread of any kind. Even wraps tend to do me in. I do like mashed potato b/c I mix in the unflavored protien powder and it goes down nice and smooth. I eat mostly chicken sausage, salad with cut up chicken strips, OJ w/protien powder, cheese, eggs (also in the salads), pumpkin seeds and other assorted nuts (which also go in the salads). I was ok with wheat spaghetti and ground turkey earlier but lately that doesn't agree with me. Um...I like the South Beach protien bars, they have nice variety, help to satisfy sweet cravings (which still bother me) and don't cause any stomach upset. I also still use the Isopure protien drinks (the ready made ones you can buy at GNC) I still have lots of trouble getting in enough protien and fluid and so with those I'm doing the 2 birds/1 stone thing. I wish I could eat bananas because they're good for you, but they are far too heavy! Watermelon was awesome, but is now out of season. I usually eat a small/medium apple at lunch, but even those are going out of season for me. The texture seems to change and they don't have that tartness. Of course I can also eat all the "salads" chicken/egg etc. I like them wrapped in lettuce. I also tried something unusual, an ostrich steak! Yeah, they have them at Stop & Shop. They are rather expensive, but I was experimenting. They're pretty high in protien (28g) It stayed down fine, but was kinda tough. Maybe I didn't cook it right. Besides that, I don't eat red meat. I haven't for about 20 years. If you are really craving chocolate, I tried Dove's sugar free dark chocolates, they come in Dark Chocolate Creme, Dark Chocolate Mint and Dark Chocolate Raspberry....******ic!!!!! Pam
