Going for Phych evaluation?
Hi everybody:
I had been a member for a couple of months now, but I never post it anything..
I just decided to had the surgery and I started doing all the test for the gastric bypass, I went to the nutricionist, I already did the HIDA scan, and the gallbladder ultrasound, and on 11/21 Im going for the Phych evaluation. Whats with this test? Im a little intimidated by this test because I was reading a few profile and some people didn't like it.
somebody who took it please let me how it is?
Thanks
Elizabeth
Elizabeth, don't worry about the phych eval, just be your self, and express what ever your feeling . It's not a test and all it's about is talking to a professional who will make suggestions concerning your mental health. I think every one will agree a persons must be mentally ready to make many life style adjustments.Don't worry.

Hi Elizabeth,
This was my first post on this board and I got great advice as you are. Just be yourself.
They will ask lots of questions, then ask them again, then have you answer them in writing, then ask them again.
At the end I met with the Dr for only 20 min and he said i was doing this for the right reason but more importantly he wanted me to know that if I had any problems afterwards that they were there to help.
I have our members here *****sponded for putting me at ease and you should be at ease also. It was a breeze. Good luck Tom
just be honest in your answer. the questions are all asked for a reason, and if any of your answers cause a red flag [which hopefully they don't!!!] it's all in your best interest.
i think what they're looking for is:
1. do you fully understand what you are doing to your body?
2. do you have binging and purging issues?
3. do you have a support system to help you through this?
good luck!! and really, look at it as a resource for yourself. this surgery can really screw with your head. no joke. it'll be good for everyone if they had someone to talk to about it AFTER the surgery.
