I have a date!!!!!!!!!!!!
i think the best thing is to bring those closest to you to a support group meeting. that way they see, in the flesh, how many people have been SO successful with their new tool. they'll see that yeah, people will have issues - and they have a place to get them solved or discussed.
if they don't want to go, send them to this website? they can read all the information and see that this surgery really does help people..
i wish you luck!
hope to see you next month?

Hi Mike, Congrats on your date!!! I would be very excited and you should be looking forward to getting on the loosing side. I have a small family and those whom I have told are giving me their support but I still want my wife to come to the support group when we can. I have not had surgery yet but have had all my tests done. I have been told the support group is only for post op patients at this time? I am not sure that my wonderful wife will not get more nervous as my time approaches. She is joking now that if I loose too much she will have to find another chubby hubby lol. People do change their minds. I agree with the great advice on this site and that we must do what is best for us. Nobody but us knows what we go through everyday from the pain, being tired, the need to plan and even the discrimination we get daily. What do they say on the planes " you must put on your oxygen mask before you can help others" I am sure that when they see you happy they will also be happy. Best of luck again. Tom
