hello everyone i have blue cross ri. anyone know how difficult it may be to get approved for the surgury. checked all the requirements and think i should be okay, how steep is that uphill battle?

call the number on the back of your card - give them your plan/policy # and they will be able to tell you whether or not it's covered. it doesn't depend on the insurance company - it depends on the policy that your employer has signed up for. if there is a written exclusion - it's a major uphill battle that not many people win. if there is just medical necessity - you'll probably never even have to deal with them. many people have to show a 6 month supervised diet.. so it might be good to start one with your PCP NOW just in case. good luck!!! kristen*

I my husband has Blue Cross Blue Shield HealthMate Coast to Coast and we were BOTH approved in a heart beat with no problems or delays. And that means no dieting requirements at all... Good Luck ~NaDene~ 239/180/140

Thanks, yesterday I spoke to my primary care and she said she would write a letter if need stating the dieting efforts, but nice to know that blueshield isn't impossible
