The Tentative Date is now an OFFICIAL Date!!!!

The Tentative Date is now an OFFICIAL Date!!!! It's true it's true!!! Hubby saw the cardioglist yesterday and everything's a go! After years and years of ups and downs with this whole WLS thing he's finally got his official date... I was almost afraid to ask him how he made out when I got home from work. I was so worried all day yesterday cuze I figured he'd call me at work to let me know how he made out and the brat didn't. When I got in from work he was sleeping so you know I had to wake him to find out what was what. Right now I think I'm more excited then he is, but I think its because he's a "have to see it for my self" kinda guy and he's had so many hurdles to get past that he's not going to believe he's having surgery it till the day of surgery is actually here. I just want to say to you new people just starting out. If one door closes don't give up! It's not the end. Its a horrible feeling to be turned away or told no just when you feel like you have finally found something that will help you to take your life back. it's only the end if you chose it to be. Learn what your resources are and fight for yourself!!! Both myself and my husband were turned away by a doctor, NOT due to our insurance but the surgeon himself felt I needed to see a nutritionist for 6 months and he felt my husband needed to lose 100lbs before he could have surgery. Well after getting that news I saw another doctor and in that six months time, I got all my testing done and had surgery with another doctor! My husband on the other hand fell ill and now has a valve in his aortic heart valve. On a fluke surgery was brought up to my hubby once more at our PCP and she told hubby it would be great for him. We were so surprised because we thought this just would never happen for him ever because of the meds he's on and the blood thinners but it's not the case. The month of December has even more reasons to celebrate in my home now...... I received my approval December 24th 2005 and had my surgery June 27th... Now here I am less then a year out from being told no from the first doctor and I'm down 57lbs in 4 months with 42 left to go. December 28th, two days after my hubbys Birthday he will be given his life back!!! Fight the fight and reach for your dreams!!! ~Hugs~ NaDene
