Newbie

Hi All, I recently decided to start the process for having bypass surgery. My first appt is with Dr. Roye on 12/8. (So far away!) This site has been such a huge help! I found it by accident but everyone's postings caught my attention. I just wanted to say thanks! Every question I've come up with so far has been answered already here. Thanks! Chari

welcome to the local board, Chari! this board's become fairly active over the last 8 months or so.. so keep checking back here, we're always yammering on about something! also - i'm not sure if you've been told this yet - but Dr. Roye/Harrington/Ryder have their support group meeting's on the 1st Wednesday of the month at 6:30pm at the Gerry House on the RIH campus. Hello and welcome Chari, I live in Narragansett, so not too far from you. You really should try and come to the next meeting, it is on 11/1 if I am correct. Lots of people who are thinking about getting surgery come and there are people in all various stages there too. I am 2 years out and I have lost 195 lbs. give or take. I had my surgery in NY but I have ready about and met Dr. Roye and Dr. Ryder and they are both awesome!!! It may take time to get your appointments and schedule all your testing but in the end it is all well worth it. The docs are very thorough at RIH and you will be in great hands. Hi Chari, I have an aunt by that name! Anyway, welcome, and I agree with you about the board being so helpful. I found it at the beginning of the summer and learned so much here. Also, the support group meeting is a great idea for you to attend. I started going over the summer (before my first appt. even) and it's great to hear everyone's progress. take care, Trace
