PLATEAU
Good Morning...this is to all of the people that have had their surgeries in the spring. Has anyone had a plateau yet? I am at 65 lbs and 5 months out. I am slow at losing and now have plaeaued. I just cant get past the 249/250 mark. I am posting what i eat for calorie sake on fitday.com and i am eating approximately 1100 to 1300 calories a day. I don't think that is a lot of calories. I am now working 3 days a week and only get to the gym twice a week. If anyone has plateaued what did you do to break it?
Thanks...bye the way,Good luck to the newbies here on the board.
ps. 5 months out and I can now tolerate eggs. Imagine that. I had my first ham and cheese omlet this past week and kept it down. That was the last food that I could not get down except for pasta...still cant do it. But maybe thats a good thing. ;)

hi carol..
i've hit some plateau's along the way. i think my worst was between 3.5-4.5 months. the scale didn't move at all! i started doing what you were doing, and found i wasn't eating enough.. i was only eating about 450 calories a day, so i called Sue Manchester. She told me we should be eating about 600-800/day until we're about 6-8mnths out.. and then up to 1000-1200/day, for the rest of our lives. this isn't set in stone, and she may have just been talking about me.. so i would call her yourself, or whoever your nutritionist is and make sure you are eating correctly for the plan they have for you.
maybe you might need to take your calorie count down? are you eating carbs? i think that's the first thing to cut out. focus on eating way more protein and veggies, so much so that you can't eat the carbs. and then increase your water by another 20 oz. water will help flu**** all out of your system, and it's healthy, and keeps you fuller longer.. so water is our friend!
good luck!
Kristen.....
what's the secret? I LOVED water before surgery. Now I just can't get enough. I loved Fruit2O.....and I'm leaning towards hating it now. My friend in S.D. told me about Diet Snapple so that's really the only way I'm getting any fluids and then it's only about 40 oz or so...and that's on a good day.

i think the secret is to always have a water bottle in your hand. you need to make it habit, so when you don't have it - you feel naked. i'm serious!
and for me, it was just putting lemon in my water. i realized i drank so much more water when i was at a restaurant, and i think it was because i really loved the lemon in it. so i just kept doing that. and it worked?
also, raspberry crystal light. that was my staple when i just couldn't do water.
it isn't easy getting enough of anything in for the first couple months.. the important thing is that you make an effort to get there because one day, you will.
hope that helps?

I'm trying....I just can't tolerate any of the crystal light stuff...(too sweet for me, even diluted). I have found a diet snapple flavor that I like.
I actually told myself to hold the bottle of water like you said. I was doing that when I came home. And I still don't make it. But I suppose you're right. Little by little I am getting a bit more in each day. Not every day, but most days.
I'm really surprised about the water thing tho. I was such a water drinker and now I just don't like any of it. I will go back and just try the lemon water again. Maybe simpler is better.
Thanks.

i hear you loud n clear. it isn't easy! for the first couple months post-op, i either drank enough, or ate enough.. it took til about 3 months out to finally be able to do both in one day.
have you tried the Propel? there's 30 calories in one of the big bottles, but worth it when you just can't get down the water.. i don't think it has that chemically after taste that fruit2o does.. so maybe try the lemon? i've tried the mango and that was gross.. but the lemon is a staple for me.
good luck!!! can't wait to see you...
