I had the lap banding and I was done on Thursday and home sat. A.M. I was only there a day extra because I had a reaction from the morphine. Anyway im home and walking carefully and I have taken 2 weeks off from work to relax and get loosing. Let me know if u need any answers but im still looking for some myself. Hey Elaine!! Sorry to hear about your reaction to the morphine...eek!! How are you doing with liquids so far?? I am getting so excited and I am so ready for this!! You took 2 weeks off? I only have time banked for 1 week. I did not tell them what I am having done, just that I am having an overnight procedure. If I have to, I will take a few extra days without pay...they won't like me or it too much, but they will have to deal with it. How is the gas?? They say that is the worse part of the post surgery. Is it clear liquids for a week and then you work your way to the protein shakes?? It is going to be weird cooking for my husband and not be able to eat. Thankfully my next door neighbor said that when she cooks she will make extra so I don't have to. Thank goodness for her!! So what are you doing for the pain?? I am assuming it is like getting the gall bladder out and it feels like you got run over by a car. Please keep me updated, I am so curious on the post op stuff. I have to say, Dr. Roye is tough, but you are right he is so talented. When is your post op visit?? Let me know if you need anything...and any advise would be greatly appreciated!! WELL KRISTEN BE PREPARED TO BE VERY SORE AND WALKING IS TENDER ,SO IS SITTING STANDING OH AND GETTING ON AND OFF THE BED IS A REAL VENTURE. AFTER I CAME HOME I JUST DECIDED TO USE TYLONOL AND ITS GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME I CAN TAKE A GOOD DEAL OF PAIN BUT USE THE MEDS IN THE HOSPITAL AND BE SURE TO ASK FOR THEM THEY WERE VERY LAX IN OFFERING TO ME AND MY ROOMMATE. AS FAR AS GAS HAVE NOT HAD ANY JUST SOME BURPING AND THE LAST 4 DAYS ON JUST CLEAR LIQUIDS HAS BEEN OK BUT IM SURE IT WILL BE HARDER WHEN I BECOME MORE ACTIVE. OH AND I HAVE 2 JOBS AND SO MUCH SICK AND VACATION TIME I DECIDED TO USE 2 WEEKS JUST TO REST UP AND RELAX. IF I DONT USE IT I CAN BUY IT BACK AT ONE JOB BUT I WOULD RATHER GET WELL RESTED AT THIS TIME. I HAVE TO CALL ANNETTE TOMMOROW AND GET A POST OP VISIT FOR FRIDAY THE THIRTEENTH. AND ITS CLEAR LIQUIDS UNTILL U SEE HIM ON THE TWO WEEK VISIT. SO ILL BE GOOD AND MUCH LIGHTER WHEN I GET WEIGHED IN NEXT TIME . OH AND I CANME HOME 11 POUNDS HEAVIER. And its starting to disapear. its from all the iv fluids they give u. but if i can do it youll be fine elaine

Good Morning Elaine, That is great you are taking the 2 weeks!! The more I think about it, I may take some extra without pay. I can apply for TDI anyway. There are a ton of changes going on where I work and not sure they are for the better so I am not going to stress and worry about coming back to quickly...it is now going to be all about me for a change!! I am actually looking forward to relaxing and watching some movies and catching up on sleep....oh yeah, and losing weight...LOL...The liquid phase is probably going to bother me after a little bit, but hoping I am so motivated that it goes by quick and doesn't phase me too much. 2 jobs huh??!! ugh. I will be going down that path soon too. I am waiting until after surgery to start looking, plus I need to go back to school so I can change careers. WHEW...lots of changes going to happen...all for the better I hope. take care and keep me posted Kristen

Hi Elaine- Glad to see that u r better too!!! Yeah the 4 day hospital stay was a little rough but we all got through it. I was itchy all over from the morphine to but I asked for benadryl and they gave it to me. The itching is a side affect of the med. I am still takin liquid lortab because I am still very sore trying to move around. I do have problems with getting into and out of a chair and the bed also. Each day will get better!! I took a 15 min walk today, it felt so good!!! Shannon

Hi shannon im better but today I have a terrible back ache it May be the gas still in my system. I called for my follow up this a.M. And annette is home sick good for her to stay home when u r not feeling well. Im home two weEks from both jobs. I love my work iam actually working but I take the guys home with me for supper or a visit and during the summer to swim in the pool so its not like work when im home to . And all day im in and out in the community doing things I love so there is so much freedom its a great job. , but I know the way I feel right now I couldnt do what I do with any comfort and I love to use my earned time off.Im a little better but I read a posting that this girl had lap band surgery on Thursday with me and she is returning to work today good luck for her . I put me first for now and I feel I ned to rest so im home take care ill get back to u elaine
