First of all let me start by saying I so suck at keeping up!!! lol So hub went on Friday to get his date, what he got was a "tentative" date of December 19th that he's switched to December 28th... He has to get clearance from his cardiologist which I knew but he was just stubborn about. He sees the cardiologist October 25th and well we'll go from there. I can't see why they won't clear him as this surgery will do nothing but benefit him and it has been well over a year since his valve was put in. There is the issue with the blood thinners. Doctor Roy said that because he's on blood thinners he's going to have to be admitted in the hospital 2-3 days before so they can take him off of them prior to the surgery. This is defiantly a scary though but again my husband is not the first person to undergo this so I just know he's going to be fine and in the hospital will be the best place for him so they can monitor him. We have to get approval from the insurance to pay for these extra days prior to him going in but because of his requirements due the blood thinners I don't see them not approving it. I guess its all hurry up and wait and see for him now... He's a bit bummed because he's thinking this is just one more let down but I'm trying to keep him motivated as much as possible.. I just keep telling him that he didn't get an out right "NO", he did get a date, its just now we have to complete something that should have been done before we even saw Dr. Roye... Hopefully if any more testing has to be done we can get it done A.S.A.P. so he can keep the date he has..... We were hoping for December 26th right along because Christmas will be over, the season at his work will be slow and my youngest will be on school vacation that week so he can spend time home with daddy.. With his date of December 28th for surgery and going in 2-3 days earlier where does that bring him??? December 26th, the date we have been hoping for ever since his first visit!!!! I'm thinking it's a sign... Oh and did I mention that December 26th is his BIRTHDAY!!!! So I'll keep ya posted.... Hugs NaDene

Kristen...... You are so right. Dr. Roye does what is needed to make us healthy enough for this surgery. He's got the answers and I won't ever doubt him. I had to walk out without even a "tentative" date, so right now, if I were NaDene and Rob, I'd be walking on cloud 9. Shel

Hey NaDene, Great news on the date!! He will be fine. I just came off my plavix for my surgery and will have to come off asprin a few days before. How long ago was his surgery for the valve?? I had a 2nd stent put in last October and my cardiologist said that usually after a year has gone by with heart surgery there is less risk for a procedure like the bariactrics. My cardiologist was not going to approve me at all. I had to bring her all my facts about the band, why I wanted it and go over the fact that I knew the risks going into it. I also pointed out with the heart disease, diabetes, sleep apnea and a bunch of other things, the benefits outweighed the risks. When I told her Dr. Roye was doing the surgery she felt better and ok'd it. she said he is a fabulous doctor (which you know). But I like your husband have to be monitered differently than a regular patient. They are most likely going to get me a room on a cardiac surgery floor to be monitered at least that is what he was going to recommend. My cardiologist also said she will be in pre-op and post-op and alll over me until I am ok to go home. Thank god Dr. Roye is so thorough!! I highly respect him and he will do anything he can to make sure he gets the surgery and the right treatment!! It is frustrating, but it will all work out in the end!! You look fabulous by the way!!! You must feel great!! If you need to vent about the cardiac stuff, let me know I am here...I have been battling that with the bariatric stuff for months now. Just think, your husband is going to have huge quality of life taking pressure off his heart by having the surgery..so his benefits definitely out weigh the risks too!!! take care of yourself Kristen D
