I'm home!!!!!! Have news on my surgery sisters.
Hi everyone.
Well, got home yesterday around 4:30pm..a little more than 2 days after surgery. They were ready to let me go home yesterday morning, but you know the red tape, so ended up being later in the afternoon. Anyway, I breezed through this thing....and I don't know how. I was in recovery for 12 hours due to no beds, but it was probably the best thing. (THANKS TO MY NURSE DENNIS...HE'S THE BEST). The guy absolutely took the best care of me. By the time I got to step down and had a few hours sleep, I was all good. No morphine after the first night. I was already up watching tv and eating popsicles by midmorning day after surgery...by that night I was running around up and down the halls (ok, that's a bit over embelished..LOL). But you know what I mean. I've had no problems at all. My visiting nurse will see me for the next week or so and says I'm FINE. I walk very slowly but that's about it. No problems at all...no gas, nausea, vomiting, nothing....THANK YOU GOD! I feel great and as you all have noticed...I have a fantastic angel. I don't know what I would have done without her for these months and through surgery....she's awesome.
Shannon called me Wed night after her surgery. I felt so bad cause she really had some problems. The poor thing called me 4 HOURS after getting out surgery that lasted between 7 and 8 hours. I think she went in around 8:30 and 8:45 and didn't get out til about 4:30. She said there were problems with her other stomach and Dr. Ryder had some trouble with it. I heard she was having the leak test on Thursday and I haven't called her yet since I didn't want to bug them...but I think I will try tomorrow.
Jessica came through fine...I heard that through Elaine. I think she found Jes when she got to the Coop. I actually would have been Jes's roommate if I had not balked about staying another night. Ah, but alas, I did get to sleep in my own bed last night and I hope she had a peaceful night as well. When I was in the coop, I had a 90 year old lady next to me who cried all night long. It was so sad. She was confused and just cried, even when I tried to talk to her through the curtain. I didn't get much rest, but I felt worse for her...she was so scared.
Elaine, my dear friend, had her surgery yesterday and she called me last night to see how I was. She was in a lot of pain yesterday and they were not on top of her morphine in the beginning.....and when she called me today, she said they finally got it to her, but that she had a reaction to it and itched from head to toe all night long. I felt so bad for her. She sounded so rough but she was such a darn trooper!!!
So the 4 Musketeers of the last week of Sept 06 are on the other side. I need to do some checking on the girls to make sure they're ok, and what I've posted is really all I know at this time. I think I came out better than my 3 surgery sisters, as I have had minimal pain and am even back to unpacking boxes and fixing up my house today (3 days after surgery)
My mom is with me and has really been a huge help. She's cooked tons of food that I like, and then put it in the Magic Bullet and then put it through the strainer. She then put everything in ice cube trays and then labled them so when I feel like something in particular, she knows the weight and how much protein is in it. I've had some terrific help through this and I'm very happy.
DR ROYE ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AND DENNIS ROCKS TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AND MY ANGEL KRIS JUST ROCKS LIKE CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!
And yes people, even my mom rocks..........LOL.
Say some prayers for my girls that have had some problems. They are great people and real troopers!!! GO SHANNON, JES and ELAINE!!!! I love you guys.
Thanks everyone and take care. You may see Elaine and I at the next meeting. Don't know about the other 2 girls yet. We'll see.
