Ok, to you ladies who have already had surgery..I have to ask 2 questions...
1st - how the skin situation??? Sagging or snapping back? How bad if it's sagging? I'm really hoping that because of my age...I might get lucky, because I can't afford plastic surgery, nor do I really care to get it.
2nd - Ok, well hell, I'll just ask, are your boobs getting smaller?? I'm currently a 44DD and well, I just can't imagine that I'll be that big when I weight less (I hope not!) So I'm curious what is happening with you ladies.
Hi Jess,
For me, so far the skin situation isn't bad, but then again I'm and extreamly slooooow loser and also what people call a "lightweight" so I'm thinking that factors in alot. Like you said too age will play into it also. Keep in mind with some medical coverages if you have saggage thats really bad and causing issues for you, if you have a PCP who's on your side and willing to battle for you, you may be able to get that taken care of by your coverage. My hubby has a saggin' belly now and thats even before surgery so we both know its going to be an issue later with chaffing, rubbing and what not. We have no doubt that our coverage will cover to fix it beacause it will cause other issues for him later.
As far as the boob situtaion, I've gone from a SCREAMING, ready to bust off my body, uni boob at 44d to a nice normal frontal set of boobs sized 36c just since June 27th!
On the other hand, my butt, lets just say my hubby calls me "Plywood A$$" now. I've completyl lost my butt!!! I look like I go from my neck to my ankles stright down!!! Hubby said last night, "I bet if I put a level on ya back the bubble would be dead center!"... lol Now this wouldn't be a bad thing normaly to some people but seeing my gut is now bigger then my butt I feel the need to walk in a room backwards!!! Even my best friend at work noticed it yesterday. Shes like "girlfriend I'm not a wacko or nuthing but you got no butt now!" So now I have a quest, a quest to build up that thing on my back I used to call a butt....
Wish Me Luck.. lol

GM Jessica,
I too was a 44 DD and yes the boobs and the facial area were the first to go. I didnt mine at all because I looked better and I didnt have that shelf that sat there when I ate. I am a very slow loser...maybe because of my age. I am I believe one of the oldest ones here. I am 59 ...turning 60 in November. I also take a huge amount of throyid medication. Don't know if thats it, but I have olney lost 56 lbs since May 17th. But I see it this way, where else can you lose 56 lbs in 3 1/2 months. I have no butt either. The stomach is still there, and yes I agree with Na Dene, walking in backwards is a good way to enter a room...hahaha As far as the skin, I have the bye bye arms big time with a ton of celliute. My daughter gave me some great skin tighening cream for the celluite and its working somewhat. Although I will need to use tons of it. I have only a few tubes. But the best thing I truly can say about the weight loss and I am sure most of us agree is that I feel so much better. My back doesnt hurt like it did when I walked. That is probably to me the best factor of weight loss surgery. In fact thats why I had it done, my bones were just wearing down with all of the weight. Especially my knees and back. The knees are another story. Have to get them done in time.
HOpe this helps.....CArol b
Hi Jessica,
Okay, this is a great quesiton and I know many want to know the answers but it really goes on a case by case basis and over time things change.
I have lost 195 lbs and I am 39 now. I of course have a lot of skin hanging but it doesn't bother me at all compared to the weight i had before.
My arms have a lot of hanging skin, my legs have a lot of sag and my stomach does too. Now, depending on how much you work out (once you have the okay of course) can also be a factor.
My boobs, well lets just say tube socks!!!! LOL I went from a 44D to a 36-38D. I wouldnt trade any of my experience thus far to go back to where I was. If I can get a tummy tuck and boobs reduced or lifted then hey that's great!!! If I can't then no big deal, I can live with it and I know I will live much longer too!!!!
So, in summary, it really depends on age, workout level, genetics, etc, etc......what happens to me won't necessarily happen for you and I think it is great to hear others' experiences but just know it may not hold true for you.
Hope this helps,
Elisa
Thanks for all your answers. I just like to see how everyone else does. I agree, it's a different battle for each one of us. As far as the flat butt...I know I'll have one! I'm not really to worried about the extra skin. My concern with it is that I would absolutely need plastic surgery, and I'd rather just skip that. I don't mind some, Hell, I expect some! Kinda like a battle wound! I'm not trying to look like a superstar, just feel like one! Thanks ladies!
hi there..
i had a pretty high BMI when i started out.. and i'm 29, so i was hoping for not too many skin issues. i'm only 4 months down, and lost 1/2 of what i want to lose..
so far, my arms are the worst. i think they're going to be gross when i'm at goal. my butt [never did have one to begin with - but i did have that lovely shelf atop the butt..] my butt is sagging a little bit. i canfeel it the most there, but i don't see the sag much at all.
i had a huge stomach, and still feel like i do.. i hope it helps me qualify for a tummy tuck because i am going tohave skin issues, and i already have back issues from it.
my boobs... i was hoping for some loss in that area.. and i've had very little. i've gone from a 44DDD to a 42-44DD. i don't see myself losing much more, but the sag is getting worse.. i see tube socks with grapefruits in them in my future..
i'd rather not have surgery.. but i think it's inevitable. i just hope to god i can get it covered by insurance whn the time comes.. even if you don't think you want it - document any issues you have, rashes, pain, whatever.. just in case your insurance company will cover it, you'll have the backup you need.
hope that helps
