Optifast - postop?

I had purchased extra Optifast drinks thinking that it would be good for after the surgery. They contain 14 grams of protein each juice box size service. Having 5 a day gives 100% of all vitamins needed to survive. Do you think this is a good idea? or should I still be out there looking for a nasty protein powder?lol L.

hi - gee, it's me, again. i think i'm the only one around this morning.. and obviously not working too hard.. i'd ask Dr. Roye what he thinks about using the Optifast as a protein supplement. I've never tried them.. but i would worry about sugar content? I doubt it's very high, but check anyway! Also, don't count on the Optifast for your vitamins.. it will be very difficult for you to get in 5 of those drinks a day! i've got a whole bottle of Centrum and Flintstone Chewables that you can have. I couldn't chew them after surgery - they were way too sweet-tart for me and made me gag - but maybe you can handle them? I switched to the Bariatric Advantage kind, and although ridiculously expensive - i now can take them without puking. just let me know if you want 'em. otherwise they're just going to sit in my linen closet taking up space. kristen*

Bring them to the meeting, if L doesn't want them I do --- I still use those believe it or not.........I take them with my kids in the AM they get 1 I get 2.....LOL Thanks, Elisa

Thanks for the advice. I forgot all about sugar content. I'm going to have to check that out. I just bought a bottle of Centrum chewables yesterday for my post-op. I'll take them off your hands and the Flinstones my sons use. That would be great. Thank you. L.

i meant to say ask Sue Manchester about the Optifast. She'll probably know better - but Dr. Roye might, too. either one.
