Info about the psych eval copays
I just wanted to pass on some info here about the psych eval copays that I'm not sure everyone is aware of.
I too almost had a stroke when I called and they told me $300.00. I ended up canceling my first appointment and just figured this was gonna be the thing to hold me up at that time. I still continued to go to all my other appointments and at my pulmonary functions test I was telling the woman about this issue. She told me that it was good I put it off because now doing my pulmonary functions test, my stress test and seeing my nutritionist first would eat up that my $500.00 deductible and that $300.00 co-payment would go POOF!!! She was absolutely right!!!! All it cost me out of pocket at the time of visits for all my appointments was $25.00 for my psych eval, $25.00 for my first sleep study consult, and $25.00 for my second sleep study consult!!! I have Blue Cross Blue Shield HealthMate Coast To Coast but I'm sure this is something you can do too with other insurances...
Just do the most expensive hospital procedure first then you'll be all set!!!!!!

Hi honey........
I too have BCBS Healthmate C2C but I don't have the copays like you do. The only thing I'm every charged is the copay visit fee to a specialist. Any lab or hospital procedure was covered 100%. I had to pay a $15 copay to go to Dr. Zimmerman and FAIL my first psych eval. So I paid the $300 to go to Dr. Friedman (cause he doesn't take any insurance) and passed. I would not go back to Zimmerman if I were on fire and he had the only 5 ounces of water on earth. .........grrr...stupid %&*$#@, freaking ^&$@([email protected] I don't harbor any resentment at all, as you can see. I really think it depends on everyones specific policy. My company even pays the $1000 hospital stay deductible for surgery. They give us a credit card and it's billed right to American Power Conversion. I won't pay a dime of the 38K hospital bill. I've had VERY minimal expense in regards to this surgery. I've just paid a couple of $10 and !15 Dr. copays and that's it, plus the $300 that I CHOSE to pay. I didn't have to, but I knew that Dr. Friedman was fair.
It's best that people check their individual policy to see what's covered and what will be out of pocket. But it's worth it...............
Love ya.
