Hi Stephanie, Welcome! You are not the only going to Dr. Pohl. Jamice on this board is going to him, too (and I'm sure there are others). It seems like most ppl here are going to Drs. Roye, Ryder, and Harrington (out of the same office) but they are pretty much all (except me!) getting the bypass. Dr. Pohl does bypasses too but most of his clients now are LapBand folks. Which surgery are you getting? I'm doing LapBand, too (Jamice and I are about the only 2 on the RI board, I think) but I'm using Dr. Ryder--that office is just now starting to do the LapBands. If you want more info on any of the surgeons you can click on "Bariatric Surgeons" in the left hand column (or it's under Local Resources) and read OH users' reviews. Trace

Hi Trace, I am still kind of wanting to go with Dr. Ryder because she is *****y. I think I will make up my mind after I am all done my testing and see Dr. Pohl again. How has your pre-op testing been going? Jamice

Hi there Stephanie, I am going to Dr. Pohl. You aren' the only one. There are others that go to Dr. Pohl that don't come to the boards here all that often. If they have had the LapBand they tend to go to the LapBand board because there aren't so many here in the RI Local board. I keep coming back, because I am determine to share my expierence with anyone else that is in RI and looking to have the LapBand done too. What procedure are you interested in? Have you met with Dr. Pohl yet? Do you have a surgery date? Ciao, Jamice

I am going to have the bypass done. I only met Dr. Pohl 2 years ago when I went to his seminar and then chickened out thinking that I could just loose it myself without the surgery. I lost 60 lbs and have gained it all + back. :o( My cousin went to him and had her bypass and said that he was very professional and compassionate I hope she is right.

I hear the same thing. I have you seen him recently? Do you have to go to the seminaragain?

No I don't have to go again. I guess that within 2 years is ok. I might just go again for educational purposes though. Do you go to any of the meetings?

Nope, I don't go to the meetings. I don't get the chance to have someone watch my 16 month old son. When I do get someone to watch him, I try to get to the gym since I am paying for a membership I hardly get to use. Thank God, it's only 10 dollars a month I pay.

Hello! I went to pohls seminar and met him at his office. I had lap RNY 6-8-06 with Ryder, and I feel great!! I went with Ryder b/c I liked her, I wanted to go to RIH as opposed to roger williams, and ryder had less of a waiting period. I did also like Pohl and think he is a great and experienced surgeon. I was tired of posting on the state board because some people on this board can be really uninformed and rude concerning Dr. Pohl and I just don't come here often because of this. If you have any questions I am happy to help as I am happy with Dr. Pohl and my surgery. Norma
