August 7, 2006 Had my appointment with Dr. Roye today. He said my sleep apnea was very severe and that it was important to use the CPAP. My %oxygen levels were in the 70s. He also said my gallbladder was not contracting well and if he can get at it he will remove it while he is in there. I told him I was starting school again in mid-September so after looking at his schedule he got me booked for Aug. 29th! I am so excited. I was expecting October at the earliest. That's only 3 weeks from tomorrow! WOW! I am still just so surprised it will be so soon. I can't wait. I am getting nervous now. I can feel that tense feeling in my chest now when I think about it. Yikes! I have fought and waited for this to happen for so long. Not just the process of the last nine months, but all the years contemplating it and all the ups and downs. I have no doubts that I will be better off. Getting my sleep apnea under control is reason enough. I am ready to go!!!!

Congratulations on getting a date. I'm hoping that when I go in to see Dr. Harrington, I get a date that quickly.

hey kenny - that's so great you were able to get a date so soon!! what a crazy elated/scared ****less/so excited kind of feeling, yeah? the tenseness will subside, i promise. if you need anything [recipes, info, an ear to blab to] let me know! i've been through many, many, many abdominal surgeries [both open and lap] - so i'm an old pro at this. congratulations again! kristen [we met at the meeting in june] ps. i had pretty bad sleep apnea with my o2 at 74% and about 150 instances per hour. It's just over 3 months out of surgery and I don't snore, I don't choke, I don't stop breathing when I sleep... i actually stopped using my cpap machine because i can't find a mask that fits my face anymore [i lost so much weight, even the smallest mask they offer doesn't prevent leaks]. i don't really miss it - but when i first started using it - man, i loved that thing! lol

Never had surgery in my life. Never broke a bone! This going to be exciting. I have worked in a hopsital and I was pre-med in college so I know what to expect "technically." Good and bad. I am just glad I don't have to wait too long. I am extremely impatient. I was shocked I had sleep apnea. I just thought it was the 12 hour shifts and my late nights out with friends that made me feel like a lazy bum. I should get the CPAP next week. Looking forward to seeing how much it changes how I feel during the day. By the way saw your profile...I have a russian blue as well. Her name is Cleo. I also just got a Bengal. Her name is Jammu. Both rescues as well. Great to see that you are doing so well. See you at the next meeting in September. I will only be a week out, but I might try to go if I feel up to it. Kenny

i was amazed at how much better i felt once i started using the cpap. that wall i *alway**** around 4pm, just magically disappeared. you need to put pictures of your kitties up. i'm jealous you have a Bengal! I've wanted one for awhile - but i'm limiting myself to 3 pets at a time right now [i have a *****hilla, too]. I ended up finding these other really cool cats called "Savanah" - they're quite similar to a Bengal - but they come from breeding an African Serval [looks a bit like a very small leopard] with a domesticated cat. They keep breeding it until it becomes more domesticated than wild. They seem to warrant a lot of serious attention and care, so many of them end up in shelters because people aren't fully aware that the really cool looking cat they're getting is way more like a tiger than a kitten. These cats can jump 10+feet from a sitting position. In any case, I'm totally in love with my Russian Blue - Winston. My dog can be a huge PITA sometimes - she thinks she's a rottweiler in a 20 pound Corgi body. So I'm trying to train her to just not bark like she's going to eat whoever's walking through the door. Sorry, I can go on and on at times. LOL I should definitely be at the next meeting. I put into my work schedule that i'll be out of the office from 1pm onwards. so no one can sucker me into staying late like last time. see ya! kristen

Congrats on getting the date! Wow, three weeks is going to fly by. And on the CPAP...my DH has SA and tells me that 10 years ago when he went for his sleep study and they put him on the machine one hour into it, it was the best night's sleep he'd had in years! Trace
