SO WHATS GOING ON WITH EVERYONE????
Hello Peeps...as Teri would say,,,,
How are you all doing? Its been awhile since we have heard from some of the veterans ...(had wls in march, and april). Whats going on with everyone this past couple of months....HOw much has everyone lost? Any problems going on with food...ect...I know I had some trouble with meat and chicken and I am staying away from them for awhile. I guess I am a bit too early to start eating them. I must say that I had tried the flavored rice cakes and popcorn cakes and they go down soooooo good...they are very easy to digest. I have lost 43 lbs so far. I at first thought it wasnt enough but I have been posting everything I eat on fitday.com and I am probably eating 1000 to 1100 calories a day no more than that..sometimes less, but I track my weight loss and have been losing approximately 2.5 lbs a week. When i have to go to the gym it is a little more.
Right now I am going to Florida this Thursday for a family emergency, my son in law who had wls in 2003 had a liver transplant at Shands Hospital in Gainesville this past Sunday. It is a miracle he is alive because he went into cardia arrest twice in the hospital and was bleeding internally. As of this date, he has been in Shands for 12 days, and was given are you ready for this.......50 PINTS OF BLOOD!!! The doctors found the artery that was nicked by another doctor when he was being tapped for fluids because of the liver not working at all. My son in law had a few stricturers after his wls and had trouble eating. He also had a predispositon to liver disease, but also drank quite a bit, took tylenlol.... and one day, his liver completely shut down. He was extremely lucky that he got a liver transplant. I am going down to take care of my grandson, the 3 dogs, and house sit while my daugher does what she has to do as he will be in the hospital for awhile.
So this is a little bit of knowledge for all of us, as we all have to take tylenlol for what ever ails us ...but please.......becareful and read the warning on the back of the package..about drinking alcolhol and taking the medicaiton. IT DOES CAUSE LIVER FAILURE.
Anyway, how about some of you posting here and letting us all know how you all are....Carol B
Hi Carol,
Hope everything goes well with your trip. It is sad the reason that you are going. I will be wishing good thoughts for you and your family.
I am just waiting. I have surgery scheduled for August 3rd. I am very excited and very nervous. I know I will get through it though.
Have a safe trip.

hi carol
sorry to hear about your son in law and also your problem with meat. i hope you're finding another way to get your 80g of protein in!! shakes must be your friend at this point. lol i haven't tried any kind of carb product yet. i'm afraid that i'll start eating them again. i just know myself and anytime i eat - i want it to DO something for me - so i only put protein and fruit in my mouth when i snack. watermelon, cheese sticks and beef jerky. my staples right now!!
i'm finally able to eat chicken most of the time. i'm in love with the pre-cooked chicken you can get over by the cheese section. i forget who makes it - but i eat it right out of the bag, or wrap it with some herbed goat cheese, a roasted pepper and then a slice of mozzarella around the whole thing. sometimes cold, sometimes i nuke it. perfect.
anyway - i started a new job this week. i'm supposed to be working on the navy base, but the dept. of defense screwed up my clearance, so i'm working offsite until i can get clearance onto the base. i can't wait to start working on the "real" stuff - right now i'm just doing busy work and it's borrrring.
i'm bummed i didn't make it to the last meeting - it was raining, and the traffic getting onto route 1 in n. kingston was backed up all the way to the jamestown bridge - so i said screw that. lol.
glad to see everyone's around. now that i'm sitting at a computer all day, instead of lounging on our beach.. i'm sure i'll be posting more. lol
lots of love,
kristen
