Hair loss remedy?
Hi all,
I was at Wednesday night's meeting at Gerry House, and there was some discussion I wasn't able to hear about some possible solutions for hair loss. I think it was Carol (not sure), she had been talking to me across the room about the positive aspects of journaling if that rings a bell for anyone. We were sitting on opposite sides of the room (I was near the windows. I'm hoping to get a jump on this, although I'm only a little over a week out. I have hereditary hair loss headed my way later in life (hits the women in my family around mid 60s). So I don't want to add any additional loss at this point in the game. I do realize that whatever works for the bariatric hair loss isn't going to cure my family gift.
Other than that, I'm feeling pretty good. Haven't had any real negative effects, but I'm being real careful. I am having trouble getting the protien in, but I'm amazed every day when I add up the fluids how well I'm doing. As of this moring I've lost 16lbs, so I'm very happy! :-D
Thanks for letting me in on this site. Hope to hear back soon. Keep well.

Pam,
Folic acid, biotin, vitamin B5, para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA), and silica are supplements that may help maintain the color and thickness of hair. The most common I have heard in my research for WLS is biotin. It can be purchased almost anywhere. My wife did not experience any hair loss in a year. I am only 4 weeks post surgery and have not yet entered the hair loss period (usually commencing about 6 weeks post surgery).
Hope this helps.
