Kinda Sorta Bummed....
Hay everyone!!!
It was great to see you all at the meeting!!! I wanted to stay and catch up with you gals but hubbys butt was killing him from the chair and he scooted out.. He can be impatient so I know if I lingered and chatted he would have been out there for a while and not thrilled...lol He enjoyed the meeting and is looking forward to the next one.... Which is great because normally he's so not into that type of thing..
I went for my first check-up. I'm 17 days out and I've only lost 10 lbs..
I got on the scale and the nurse goes WOW GIRL your doing great, then I look and see 229 lbs. I'm like what?? Is that right?? She goes yeah that's great!!! I said noo its not, it's only 10 lbs.. I told her I was 239 the day of surgery, she told me the last weight they have me at is 254 from my last appointment. So I guess it all depends on how ya look at it..
Anyhow, needless to say I'm pretty bummed.....
I know I know I have less to lose but it still bums me out....
My exercise has been minimal and I know that's a big part of having great numbers.
So now that I know that even with this surgery, I still have to struggle for every pound off. It's a bummer but I have to step it up now, like it or not...
I'm feeling like I'm going to be that one person it doesn't work for....

Hi NaDene,
Don't feel that way, Claudia and I both feel like we are not losing fast too. I know when you check the main message boards, it seems like everyone else is losing but you. I had my wls on May 17 and I have lost 39 lbs. I didn't lose anything before surgery. I am going to the gym an average of 3 times a week. I am walking on the tread mill there and now doing some machines excersises on my arms and stomach. Other than than I am pretty sendentary. You don't have than much to lose and you lost a lot before surgery. I only wish I was 229 because I am the same height as you. 5.8" ...so I know you must look great!!! The wls did work for you, but like Helen the nut for Dr. Harrington says, it takes time and she told me DO NOT GO ON THE SCALE EVERY DAY. That is hard to do...Both Claudia and I get on line each morning and compare weights....and yes we think we are not losing much because it is sooo damn slow!!!
Hope this helps you ....Carol B
Na,
You look great...don't worry about the #'s...they will come off...me and you are light weights, I've lost 68 lbs in 3 months, but I couldn't eat for a long time, and everything was coming back up on me...I just went for my bloodwork and I'm a nervous wreck cuz I know I am not getting in enough protein or fluids...I just hope I don't end up in the hospital...that would kill me...
So I want you to be proud of yourself and know that the next visit you will be even skinnier...
Love ya,
Ter
NaDene:
"lightweights" which you and I are, lose slower than others. I know that it is hard, I have gone on the main board and seen people that lose 30-40 pounds in the first month, but that is not you or me! I lost 18 in the first month, and now 6 weeks out it is 25. It sounds to me like you are right on track!!

Don't be bummed out. It will start falling off you at a faster rate soon enough.
I am 6 months out Monday and I have lost far more than I thought I would at this point. I keep waiting for that stall everyone talks about but I guess it hasn't arrived yet. I had a mini one a few weeks ago, where I lost 2 pounds in 2 weeks, but it picked back up again. Don't get down on yourself, you will be surprised in due time...........remember this post when you are 6 months out. You will be shaking your head and saying....what was I so worried about.
Have a great day
~Donna~
Ummmmmm, helloooooooooo you are still healing and even though you feel great and seem to be bouncing around, your body is still sayng,,,,hey what the F%^% happened here? Believe it or not your body does still have the anesthesia in it and you most likely still have fluids.......like everyone else said....just wait (I know easier said than done but its true)
And you know you have less to lose than the ones who started out heavier so just think, you will be at goal sooner....thats usually how it goes...give it time mama!!!
