LAP BAND SURGERY INFO.?
Hi Sandy,
Just realized I'd missed your question from a couple weeks ago!
As for me, personally, I am not worried that Dr. Ryder is newer to performing LapBand surgery and will be having an assistant. I've been doing a bit of research about this, and this proctoring is how all the LapBand surgeons get started. Plus, nobody can get experience if no one ever goes! And most importantly, having the experienced surgeon there from Inamed (the co that makes the LapBand) is excellent because (1) he/he is HIGHLY trained in doing LB surgeries and (2) he/she is HIGHLY invested in making sure the surgeon does it well because that positively effects the company (and when the surgeon does it well and word gets around/the surgeon gets more exprience it means the doc will start doing more LBs, which means more $$ for the company). So, yes, I feel fine with the proctoring.
Some ppl likely will not. I say you need to do what you're comfortable with.
