frustrated-need advice-Dr Roye's patients
Hey everyone,
Dr Roye gives a specific list of people for psych evals. I called Blue cross and NONE of them participate!! Out of curiosity I asked Dr Friedman's office what the out of pocket would be...300.00!! Holy crap!! I can't afford that. And I found my own nutritionist too that I know for sure takes my health plan...when I called Dr Roye's office I was told that it HAS to be someone on the list....he will not accept reports from anyone other than who he specifies in the approval letter!!
any advice would be greatly appreciated...I am backed into a corner and don't know what to do!!!
Thanks!!

Hi Jamice..
I have Blue Cross.....I am just frustrated because they will not let you go to someone who your insurance covers..they said that they have had problems when using others. He won't accept reports from anyone but who he specifies on his list.
the other thing that bugs me is that I went through a nutrition class in Jan for 13 weeks that was part of my cardiac rehab....I wanted to go back to where I was going for that, but they won't accept a report from them.
just having an all around bad day...work, this, etc...I hope it gets better when I get home
Ooo, Kristin,
Sorry about what you had to go through. That is the part that scares me. I have heart disease and was put on anti-depressants after my heart attack in October of last year because after an MI there is depression that does follow for a while...I am afraid of being judged by a psychiatrist because I stayed on the meds. I don't know who the lesser of the "evils" are there...eek!!!
So glad to hear you are feeling great. Just knowing the end result and being able to have more energy doing normal stuff must make you ecstatic!!! I can't wait to have that feeling!!!!
Kristen
Depression, in and of itself, is not disqualifying. You will certainly be looked at closer by anyone doing a psych eval. My wife and I have both had Gastric Bypass surgery. She in September of 2005, and me just 3 short weeks ago. It is common to feel a certain amount of depression even under the most ideal conditions. Someone is cutting into your body, altering parts of your anatomy, and your lifestyle is forever changed. That is the reason to have it though. The lifestyle change.
My wife has had Panic and Anxiety disorder since her early teens. She was (and still is) on medication for anxiety and depression. But, the surgery was one of the best things she ever did. Her self-esteem is the highest I've seen in the 11 years we have been married. She is buying clothes with joy.
Just for information, our doctor is in Connecticut, so don't limit yourself. He accepts almost all insurances. His staff is excellent. His practice is in a "Center of Excellence", which has extremely high criteria to qualify. I am not pitting one doctor against another. There are many good doctors in this field. Do your homework. If you want to get it done, you will!!
