hi my names jay and im from RI. i am about 6-1 and am at 294 as of this morning. I NEVER exercise or get my heart rate up. i really need to start and lose some of this extra wieght. my body is just a huge frame and about 230 is my wieght for a normal look and feel. 5 years ago i was 217 and felt great but i just dont have a good eating drinking habit! my day is pretty much an ice coffee decaf with milk and 2 splenda for breakfast, a large random grinder for lunch, and a normal dinner (say chicken cause that seems its all i eat) with some rice or something like that. im really trying to stay away from any surgery and basically just get my eating and drinking habits alittle better with some random walking etc involved.... anyone got any opinions for a newbie??

Hi Jay, welcome. My suggestion would be to try and eat 6 small meals a day and to get all the water in that you possibly can!!! I know it is hard, heck I had to have surgery because I could not do it alone, but that is what will work for weight loss, oh, and exercise!!!!

hi Jay, I would advise you to eat several smallers meals too, and add in alot of salads, fruits and veggies. As far as exersizing, swimming is a great exersize! I too was not ablt to exersize alot because of my knees and back. I just joined the ymca and after only a few times swimming laps, I feel so much better. good luck to you Trish
