Two messages......
Well today i over did it and I had my first dumping syndrome....at least I think it was that. I am doing pretty good for being 6 days post op. If you read previous post u will see that i can have something a bit heavier than just liquid pureed food. Well I over did it, and I had some tuna today with some mayo...I only had maybe 2 teaspoons and I felt it going down, along with a very tiny tomatoe..inside only) It started to hurt so bad and it just sat there, I had to make myself vomit several times and i had such pain, and heart burn. I walked around a bit to get my mind off it..and then i had some loose stool......finally after that i felt much better....i waited for awhile because I was so hungry and thirsty and had a yougert and 1/2 advantage protein drink, which by the way is very good even when u put more dry when protein into it and blend) It's by Atkins. After that I was very hungry so i waited the time allotted, and had 1/3 sweet potatoe which was so good and went down very well. waited awhile and I just had two slices of american cheese which i ate very slowly,,,,went down oh so well.
I lost the water weight I had gained plus and another 7 lbs...
Next question, how do you put a pic of yourself on here. I do have one on my pc taken when my son got married. Of course I was slimmer then, but it came out pretty good. Please let me know ok? I am looking on here but cant find out how.
thanks Carol b
Carol,
I have a problem with fish...I love fish but my stomach doesn't. And yes that is dumping. I can't even have shrimp anymore...at least for now.
As far as the picture, you have to send your picture in an email to obseityhelp.com and they will put it on here for you...at least that's what I did.
Love,
Teri
ps congratulations on the weight loss!!!1
hey there.
i don't think what you had was dumping.. dumping syndrome has to do with rapid "dumping" of undigested food into the digestive track - usually foods with a lot of sugar or carbs. however, what probably happened was that your new stomach wasn't ready for something as stringy as tunafish. especially if it's ont he drier side. the meat will get balled up in your pouch and cause LOTS of pain because it's essentially "stuck". If you used full-fat mayo - you may have had the reaction because it's so fatty - but if you're eating american cheese, then you aren't having a problem with fat. LOL
i think the best advice i ever heard was "treat your stomach like you're treat your newborn baby's stomach.".. would you give your 2 week old baby XXX? No? Then don't give it to your stomach until, blah blah blah..." I know it's hard to be careful and cautious, and it totally sucks.. but you so don't want to hurt it either. Throwing up is very dangerous to the healing of your pouch, especially so soon after surgery.. so I hope that's the only time you have to do it!
congrats on losing the 7 pounds! woohooo, Carol !!!
