my 2 sense… I've seen 3 PS and by far the best was Dr. Hani Sinno from the Jewish General. I have decided to have my surgery with another surgeon (though Dr. Sinno was hands down my first choice) and advice you to see Dr. Sinno for paperwork. He is sooo confident and optimistic and definitely worth your time.
Hello, I am scheduled to have surgery with Dr. Christou in June of this year. The weight list for surgery in my province is unbelievable, so I have decided that I will have to finance myself.. I have looked at possibility of going to Mexico for 1/4 the cost, but my choice is to have my surgery in Canada. Not sure if you are scheduled for surgery yet??

They put in for a pannilectomy, chest, and inner thigh. The chest and thigh is very unlikely to pass RAMQ, and the pannis area is far from a sure thing either. pretty discouraging that these thing might not be deemed necessary after losing 239 lbs from my lifetime high weight. The doctor wasn't really encouraging, spent most of the time telling me what he wouldnt do and downgrading the outcome of the procedures. Guess he doesnt want to get my hopes up. I would have preferred to hear that he would do as much as he could, in the best way possible within the confines of what was approved. Instead he seemed to want to establish limits ... like on the pannis area, they only go as far back on the sides as 'they can easily reach' with me lying flat on my back ... when he pointed this spot out to me it was way to far forward and would leave a huge sac of skin on the sides. He was professional, but the attitude seemed defeatist and minimalistic. I think I will look around for a more positive and aggressive doctor to do the procedure if it gets approved.
The photo place did allow me ot have a digital copy of the photos, which are nice to have. not putting these anywhere near the internet though ... they are pretty horrendous. :(

I finally got the call for my plastic surgery consultation and wil lbe doing that this thursday may 1, 2014. It will be at the Montreal General Hospital with Dr Mario Luc ... if anyone has information to share on this doctor or his team, please let me know. First surprise for me was the 100$ required to take pictures to send to RAMQ ... it guess i can understand that, but seems a bit expensive!

welcome to la belle provence! I'm personally not fond of the vegetarian diet after WLS. Its very very carb heavy to try and get in your daily protein amount and the volume of food could be difficult to take in. I also dont like the vegan protein powders which gritty and taste bad to me. But to each their own! you might make things easier on yourself if you allow eggs, dairy, and maybe even fish ... that would make things a lot simpler.
Hello,
Am not sure about Quebec City meetings in English...I can ask the moderator from our meetings if she knows of any and can get back to you.
Good luck this thursday!

Hello Everyone! I was so happy to see there is a Quebec Support Group. I live in Quebec City, and saw Dr. Henri Atlas two years ago to discuss VSG surgery. I wasn't sure that I was ever going to get a call from the hospital, but they called me last week, and I will be driving to Montreal on Thursday to get my blood work done and to see the Nutritionist. The nurse advised me that the surgery could be in June, July August or September this year. This is scary and exciting!
I have managed to lose 50 pounds over the past two years, which is 50 pounds I gained after seeing the Doctor, and dealing with medications, etc. The nurse recommended that I buy the IdealFast (two weeks) while I am in Montreal. I am wondering if these are vegetarian friendly. I switched over to a vegetarian diet for the last three months, and I have never felt better.
I am looking for friends and support through this journey. I moved from Vancouver to Quebec, and cannot say my social network has grown with my waistline! ;(
I am curious about Plastic Surgery afterwards. I am certain I will need to get A LOT of work done afterwards. Is this covered by RAMQ or will I be paying out of pocket? Being that I am out of town, I will be staying in a hotel for a week or two after my surgery.
I look forward to hearing from anyone regarding there experiences. I would also really like to hear from anyone who has had Dr. Henri Atlas as their surgeon.
Thanks!
Can you advise me if there are any English Support Meetings in the Quebec City Area? I am coming to Montreal this Thursday to have the consultation with the Nutritionist at the Sacred Heart Hospital.
