Hi Ada,

I haven't chatted in forever but as I can see you are doing AMAZZZZZING!!!

At 162 lost, you have almost surpassed me in less than a year. You are yet another success story and I am so very happy for you! :) You must feel like a million $$$.

You totally deserve feeling the way you do! You struggled with your weight all this time and now you finally kicked it in the A$$. I'm sure Diana is SUPER happy for you too!

I miss you guys! We should do another update dinner sometime soon; hopefully before Cath decides to POP :)

Take care, Derek -xxx-

I remember the shakes like it was yesterday. Those things sucked but you WILL get used to them. I had to do it for 28-days too :(

I used to take 2-3 shakes a day. I mixed them with ice in the blender to make like a smoothie. At lunch I would eat a salad with ranch dressing. I didn't care much about the carbs that were in the dressing but that was me. If you can do without, that would be best. In the end, I lost ~38 pounds so I can't say that it was that bad. Oh an I also had two cheat meals but shhh.... don't tell anyone! Good luck, your day is almost here!

Welcome and congrats on the upcoming surgery which is TODAY!!! :)

I found the BENEPROTEIN like Ada said at Jean Coutu.

The first couple of weeks will be harder on you mentally then physically but you will pull through it. Take your time, sip your water, take small walks and rest a ton. You will be on your feet in no time.

To be honest, it's been two years since surgery and I haven't been in to do any blood tests... I should probably go ehh? I know it's nothing of a laughing matter but my Blood Pressure is EXXXCELLENT, my resting heart rate is 50-52 (I'm a hockey player so this is normal), and I no longer suffer from sleep apnea but maybe something deep down is needed. I'll book something with my DR. :)

Thanks HazelSMRF!

I just looked into that scale on Amazon.ca but it was out of stock so I opted for the Ozeri one that also measures body fat, bone density, muscle weight as well as overall weight and water weight. It was a little more expensive (65$) but I think I will be happy with it. I have decided to hop back on the cardio machine at home on Saturday and did the Treadclimber for a full period while watching my Ottawa Senators play. I walked for 35 minutes at 3 MPH burning a little over 500 calories. Yesterday I managed to do 1.5 hours of ball hockey and today will be another 30-40 minutes on the TreadClimber. Hoping to do it everyday and see what the scale shows me. :)

Thanks for the kind words Sylvie!

We won't know the sex of the baby until he or she comes out. We decided to wait to make it that much more exciting :)

Thanks Deb! Congrats to you on the new bundle of joy that is on the way. You are expecting 2 months and a day before us :)

Wishing you all the best as well.

Thanks for that!   It sounds pretty close to what I have but I also had A-D-E-K-B1-B6  which are probably unneeded.

I was not aware of any weekly support groups,  are they tied to a particular surgeon?   Although probably not,  Ville St-Laurent is pretty far from Greenfield Park without a car,  boooo.

Hi!

Congrats on joining the losers! :) I would have totally gone to Mexico is #1: I had the money and #2 I wasn't already on the list... I waited just under 2 years for my surgery, I had a VSG July 17th 2012. I've never regretted it or been happier!! :)

I am a patient of Dr Denis and I went for my 6 month check up and waited nearly 3 hours and had to leave without seeing him, so I never got the blood test papers... I also went to my family Dr and he gave me a blood work up... here is what he requested:

Sodium

Potassium

Glucose: AC

Urea

Creatinine

Bilirubin Total

Total protein

Albumin

Iric Acid

Calcium Total

Phosphorus

Magnesium

AST (SGOT)

ALT (SGPT)

ALP

HbA1C

Lipid Profile (chol, trig, HDL, LDL)

Urinalysis

B12

Ferritin

Folate

TSH

Serum Iron

CBC

Sed Rate

Once again, he is only my GP... so don't know if there are others required or not...

Best of luck!

Will you be going to the weekly support meeting this month in Ville St Laurent?

Good luck with your surgery,  I was exactly your weight on my surgery day (303),  I'm at 235 today about 4 months post op :)    You must be really excited!
