Topic: I'm home...

Youpi! Home and resting. Surgery was done Tuesday AM and I was sent home Thursday PM. All vitals were fine, keeping liquids down.

One thing has been bothering me though. Even in the hospital under there heavy pain meds I was getting some bad headaches when I wake up. When I mentioned it to the nurse, she didn't seem worried about it. Since I have been home I have BARELY taken any pain meds. But last night I woke up at 5:30 am with a really bad headache. Has this happened to anyone?

Topic: RE: Beneprotein vs other protein powders

I looked at the nutrition numbers for beneprotein vs unjury unflavored.

beneprotein is 6g protein per 7g serveing  which is 20.6 g protein per 24g

unjury is 21g protein per 24g serverng

so based on weight, it's very similar in nutritional value.  it must be really fluffy or course to explain the difference in serving sizes. beneprotein is also unsweetened

I guess since beneprotein is covered by prescription/medicare/drug plan, it's not bad to have to add to things (jello, soups, etc).  but for shakes, i'm going to stick with unjury!  it really tastes good.

I had my surgery on March 18th, 2013 by Dr. Demytyynaere at the Royal Victoria Hospital.  Pre-surgery weight was 349 lbs.  Original start weight (November 2012) was 365 lbs.

His team is amazing and very conscientious of their patients.

He and his team did a great job and I was up and walking to the bathroom with a little bit of help approximately 8 hours after my surgery.  My problem with heartburn returned while I was in the hospital but was given something to counteract which has been prescribed to me for the next year.

I left the hospital weighing 342 lbs.  I'm getting used to eating slowly and very little....I'm only having a problem with the recuperation, tiredness and moving slowly.  I can't wait to be able to go to the gym and getting back to my daily routines.

The staples are bothersome and I have some pain but it is manageable with pain killers.  Mostly extra-strength Tylenol.  My staples come out in 2 days.

Didn't have him but he is the #1 doctor in Canada for bariatric surgery.

Has anyone had a self pay DS with Dr. Gagner? This is what I am going for, I have already had a VSG 4 years ago. If you had a DS with him, how long was your stay?

Hey Pete, The way to make the broth fat free is to warm it up and put it in the fridge for 6-8 hours let say, and the fat will rise to the top and will be solid and white. Take a spoon and skim it off the top. I wouldn't worry about carbs if I were you, ALL veggies have carbs. I would stay away from sugar though. An opinion is if the can stuff has sugar(unless its 1g), use fresh instead. Probably wont taste as good, but hey it only 2 weeks of hell, right?
