Hi, How young are your children. Is there a spouse that can help?
As for my experience, i had a ds and have 2 young children. I am very fortunate because my husband took the whole month off from work to help out. If you don't have anyone to help out I would get the help offerred from others. Saying everything goes textbook as it was for me, you should feel much better in 2-3 wks. For me it was in the 2nd week and i had a 6 hr surgery. If you work a couple of hours a day, i seriously think you can be back in the 3rd week. Ask your doctor just in case.
Good luck and try to be the most positive as possible (it really is the deal breaker)
So I finally joined the YMCA today. I can go to any but the NDG-Monkland is closet for me... Any other members here??
I don't wish that endoscopy on my worst enemy!
They dilated me 2cm.. So Yes I do notice a BIT of a change. I am afraid to get dilated more, cause I'm afraid to over eat. I am sureeee I won't but still scary anyway.

sorry to hear you have to do again. I had an endoscopic ultasound 7 years ago and my experience was not much different. I have a serious gag reflex and i was in tears. only difference is that i threw up because my nose was blocked from the crying andi could not breathe, with the scope in me. and they continued anyway! lol. it really needed to be done so oh well. what an ordeal to go through. the things we do for our health eh! hopefully you will get better meds this time .... as close to passing out as possible! :)
so they dialated you, does that mean you cna eat and drink better now? that must be a relief. or will be once your throat feels better from the ordeal.
Warning: NOT suitable for those with weak stomachs!
Just got back from my endoscopy... WOW that was HELL!
Let me just start by saying I put up with pain and I am not a cry baby. The young lady who first tried to give me an IV, I warned her I ALWAYS have problem finding veins, there small, invisible and like to move. I have NEVER screamed in pain from an IV, no matter how uncomfortable. After her messing around in my arm with the needle, i felt like my arm was on fire, and let out one scream.... Then apologized because that my nature. From now on I refuse to get needles from women with less then 20 years exp! She FINALLY took it out and the other nurse did it.
Then the presigure...I am very hard to freeze. They gave me double the dose of meds that they usually give patients, and I was awake and felt the whole thing.Yes continuous GAGGING with 3 things going down my throat... blowing air (farting) like crazy because they are filling you with air. On the verge of an anxiety attack...They dilated me 2cm from the pinhole opening I had. After 5 minutes and they saw I couldn't hold back the tears anymore, they stopped.
Dr.Soulellis asked me to come back next Monday so they can finish what they started. I was assured that they will give me way better meds this time. Then I find out they saw an ulcer. So they will need to fix that as well
I don't want to go through that again, but I think I have no choice but to trust him to take care of it
Submitted this on the main forum, but haven't gotten any bites yet; can you guys help me?
i am 1 days pre-op and trying to get all my ducks in a row (mmmmmm...... duck, guess that will be a while)
1) I just finished prepping meals to get my family (3 young kids and dh) through until next Monday (my rny is this tuesday). Should I prepare more meals. Some friends have offered to make me dinner; should I take them up on it or will I be ok to throw stuff together (quick fyi; my family has a slew of allergies and food issues so getting help with food is like swallowing a HUGE pill for me)
2) how soon post op (presuming everything is textbook a-ok) were you up to returning to work. I know the gov't will give up to 5-6 weeks medical leave but I just started a new job (they knew I would be taking some time off before I accepted the position, although I hadn't received my date yet) as a school cook, and with only a month of school left I feel like the more time I take off the more challenging it will be in the new year, I only work about 2-3 hours per day, but it is mostly on my feet. Will I be able to work 1 week post op, theoretically?
Ok - thanks for the help and adivce y'all
The nutritionist told me to bring clear liquids; broth, juice, etc... so that is what i will bring. Do you recommend anything else?

sucks that this is still happening to you. was hoping it would be cleared up already. hopefully good solid news on monday so they can get it fixed!
Really sorry to hear that. Do you know what can cause the stricture or ulcer?
I am confident however that you are in GREAT hands. I ADORE Dr. Neville. Too bad she's leaving in July.
I'm sorry to read that you are having complications but I'm glad that you seem so well taken care of by Dr Court's team.
Good luck with the endoscopy and take care !
