Topic: RE: How long did you yake off for recovery. Should you have taken more.?

I would definitely place a follow up with Martine, I had my first consultation with Dr Denis Oct 2010, my nutrition Spring 2011.. and my surgery July 2012... My friend also had the exact same meetings as me and her surgery was October 2012...

Has the hospital contacted you to open a file? Will it be at the hospital or Rockland MD? Rockland MD is the day surgery, they do bands and sleeves as day surgery...

I have 3 kids, who were 1 1/2,4,6 at the time of my surgery so life went on and I tried to not get too tired... I was really lucky!

Any questions you have. dont be shy! and feel free to come to the monthly support meetings!

I don't know if you guys heard about the 1 day surgery? I'm trying to get that so this is the reason they called me to see if I was interested, I believe we need to have a BMI under 50 with no medical problem like high bp, no diabeties, no sleep apnea ect.. We have to stay somewhere near the hospital (less then 30 min.) for 4-5 days so maybe that's why she said that but I don't know if its for all the surgeon. I hope you will get that call to and meet you at the reunion

It has actually been 2 1/2 years since my initial consultation with Dr Denis.     I did reach put to Martine in February and she said the wait is now 2 1/2 years but that depends on many factors. (Not sure what that meant).

I am hoping it will be by September.  :-).

Initially Dr Denis told me I would need a week to heal and can return to work.  I do have an office job and want to get back to routine as fast as possible... Assuming my body cooperates.   Am worried about fatigue as I also have an 11 year old.

Maybe I should reach out to Martine again.   I just don't want to disrupt her so much,  am sure she has many When when when?? Emails.  Lol.

Sylive,  am so glad to hear things are starting to move on your end.   ;-).

I thin I will tell my workplace that max, i will need 10 days off, but I may come back after 7.

Thanks guys for ur input.    Best knowledge we can get comes from those who have been there.

Kellie

Hi

I have an office job, and I had my surgery on a Tuesday and went back the next tuesday... I know that is not the "norm" but I'm a 30 year old mother of 3, and life went on as per usual for us.... After day 3 I felt TOP SHAPE, even did back to school shopping.

I also had Dr Denis, do you see him? Have you followed up with Martine? 3 years is quite long, do you know if you will be operated at Sacre Coeur or Rockland MD?

Good luck!

depends on how demanding and active your job is really.  I would say at least 2 weeks.  3 or 4 would be good too if you can manage it ... working really throws a monkey wrench into your eating and drinking goals for the day, which are still kinda challenging the first month.   Some people have energy issues too, esp if they are struggling with their food or water intake.  But if you are sitting in an office, dont need to do any lifting or bending, have some breaks in the day (to walk, or have a protein snack) ... you cna get by with only 2 weeks off.
