Now bear in mind I had the Gastric Plication. Feb. 28 th. I was the only one there that day having WLS.  There were a few other patients having other surgeries.  I think also it depends on your health issues.  Your frame of mind.  your preparation and your enthosium . Your positive attitude . You must be ready. Keep in touch with them keep phoning. Do your research and don't give up. I hope all of you get your turn very soon.  It is so frustrating.  your turn will come.   Doris QC.

Karol I am with you. It took me 6 months 6 months did all my tests in Ottawa had them faxed to Montreal. Was my own Dietition until last week. Now I see Pat in Fort Colounge.  You have to be really sincere and pushy. I was told one time that appts. were being made on a certain day.  You had to phone that day.  Well I got on that phone and I must have redialed 100 times until I got through. Determination and willing to fight your way up.  Don't give up. The nurse kept saying 2 to 3 years. Well I proved her wrong.  Just keep phoning never give up.    Doris QC.

Topic: Income tax receipts for WLS appts

Just as a heads up for everyone here, I met with our income tax person the other night and she said that I should keep EVERY SINGLE RECEIPT in connection with appts for surgery.  She said I can claim travel, mileage, meals and every single expense for myself and a companion in conjunction with planned WLS and post op.

Hi Elena,
I don't usually spend alot of time on the Quebec forum but checked in today and saw your spreadsheet.  Something's weird about wait times.  From first appt with Dr. Atlas to surgery was only 8 mths for me and some people seem to have waited longer and were on the list before me.  WTF?  I was really pushy but polite and really hounded everyone until my tests were scheduled and completed.  I didn't want to go to Montreal to see a dietician and so arranged to see one at my local Shawville hospital.  I also did all of my tests in Shawville and sent them myself to Dr. Atlas' office.  Something's weird...  If I can help let me know.  Best regards, Karol

Something's wrong you guys.  I met Dr. Atlas for the first time on May 26th, 2010 and he told me my surgery (band) would be within 6 - 8 months. )  I had my surgery at the Rockland Clinic on February 18th.  Everything went according to plan.  Danielle in his office at Sacre-Coeur was FANTASTIC to deal with, as was Martine.  Everything was exactly as I was told.  Actually, they wanted to do my surgery in January and I asked to defer it until February so I could go to Cuba with my family and that was no problem.  Something is wrong!!  Call Danielle at 514-338-3666!  Let me know.  I know Doris saw Dr. Atlas after I did and she's also had her surgery at Rockland.  Someone has misplaced your file or something like that!  Good luck.

Hey buddy!
I'm still shrinking and it's fun! Everybody is going to start shrinking with me too. I have a pretty strong opinion on this too. Having waited almost 28 months from my initial call, I know what it is to wait. They had initially told me 18 to 24 months so I was hoping I was going to be one of the lucky ones that would get the call in like 3 months but it wasn't the case. My beef is with the system and how the system works. I want to know what the criteria is for a person passing in front of another. We are all going through the public route and therefore we should be going on that list one after another. I've had people who I've referred who have had surgery all while I was waiting. It ****** us of, but like most things in life, we can't always have it our way. My saying is Everything happens for a Reason so your time will come. It's frustrating but it will come. 18 to 24 months sounds a little more of the right time frame. However, if you're having surgery at the Rockland Clinic, it may be more around the 12 to 18 month wait. These numbers are just my guesses from what I've heard from people. The times vary by surgeon also so it may be quicker or slower than me. I know Dr. Garneau was really busy last Monday at my post-op. I must have met 5+ patients of his so I know that he's been busy the last few months. Who knows, maybe the wait times are getting smaller. Just try to live your life to the fullest and time will go by and you will get that call when you least expect it. I know I did.

Good luck gang! Your time will come!

Hey Sarah,
No offence but I think you meant 269.4 and not 169.4 cuz that would be your goal right? Nevertheless, it's just a matter of time before the weight starts coming off. The walking is the best thing you can do. Do you have time to go to the gym? For me, when I play hockey, I lose about 2 pounds. I was on a 9 day stall, got the green light and played hockey the next day and boom, I was down 2.8 pounds. You gotta give your body a shock. Give it something it's not used to on a regular basis.

That's what I do.

Let us know how it goes.

Derek
